What the inspector wrote

On 12/13/23, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Joseph Pacheco and Valerie Mireles conducted an unannounced Case Management inspection and met with Director, Carissa Cederblom. LPAs explained the reason for the inspection and a tour of the center was conducted both inside and outside. The licensee is requesting to remove its toddler option program and be licensed for 84 preschool children. This program currently operates year round from 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM and currently utilizes four classrooms: Yellow, Green, Blue and Red. Facility provides morning and afternoon snacks. Parents provide lunch. Snack food is prepared on-site. Ill children and staff will utilize the staff bathroom. Ill children will be isolated in the director’s office until picked up by their parent or legal guardian. Cleaning supplies are kept in inaccessible areas in all classrooms. All classrooms appeared to be clean and free of toxins. LPAs observed that the furniture and equipment in the classrooms appeared to be safe and in good condition. LPAs observed that the center has a working carbon monoxide detector installed. LPAs observed that there are plenty of tables, chairs, cubbies, sleeping cots/mats. Classroom items and toys appeared to be age appropriate. Room measurements in all classrooms were taken and reviewed with Director. The total inside preschool area measured to an approximate 6,133 square feet which will accommodate the requested capacity of 84 preschool children. There is a total of 12 toilets, and 12 sinks/hand washing fixtures which will accommodate 84 preschool children. Facility utilizes drinking fountains in each classroom. Water from these fountains is used to fill pitchers which are brought outside during outdoor activities. Children bring water bottles from home. Facility has cups on hand in case a child forgets their water bottle. The outside square footage measured to an approximate 4,938 square feet which will accommodate up to 65 preschool children. Director has submitted a waiver regarding the outdoor activity space for review by the Fresno Regional Office. Outside toys and equipment appeared to be age appropriate. Adequate shade is available in the outdoor activity area. Facility is utilizing synthetic turf to provide adequate cushioning for high climbing equipment. LPA reminded Director to make sure they have visual supervision of children at all times. CONTINUED ON LIC809-C A fire clearance for 84 preschool children was received and granted by the Madera County Fire Department on 8/25/23. Pending a final file review and approval of the requested outdoor waiver, a recommendation will be made to license the above facility for a capacity of 84 preschool children. CONTINUED ON LIC809-C Director was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. Per Title 22, Division 12, Chapter 1, of the California Code of Regulations, no deficiencies are cited. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Director, Carissa Cederblom. This report shall be made available to the public upon request. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted on, or immediately adjacent to, the interior side of the main door for 30 days.
