Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

On September 13, 2022 at 12:55 PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Cowan conducted an initial complaint inspection. LPA met with site director, Amy Taylor. The purpose of the inspection was explained. Present in the facility is director, 14 staff, and 52 children in care. During today's inspection, LPA toured facility, and interviewed director. Director explained to LPA that she has noticed that ants will come into the school to escape the extreme weather, and she did notice ants during the heat wave last week. Director states that the school contracts with a pest control company that comes periodically to spray the outer perimeter of the school. Director states that the school also uses herbal pesticides when ants are seen inside the facility. During inspection of classrooms, LPA observed that every classroom has a working fans. Director states that extra fans were purchased during the heat wave. Director also states that staff made sure that children were as cool as possible making sure to have them drink water often, mist them with water, have children go out for play in the cooler hours, and use shade. Facility uses outside misters for children on the play gournd. During the visit, director agreed to email LPA a copy of the pest control contract. Although the allegations may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove the alleged violation(s) did or did not occur, therefore the allegations are unsubstantiated.
