What the inspector wrote

On August 22, 2025, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Garcia and Quimbo made an unannounced case management visit to add classroom 33 and 34 and capacity increase and met with Director, Caitlin Schmitt . The Department received an application with Emergency Disaster Plan and indoor sketches from the director requesting for room 33 and 34 be added for the preschool program. There were 26 children and 4 teachers present in the facility. During the inspection, the facility was inspected for health and safety hazards. Current licensed classrooms for the preschool program are rooms 35 and 36 from 8:00am to 1:45pm. The classrooms are also being used for the school age program from 2:00-6:00 pm. The classroom has a centralized fire alarm, a smoke detector, and a fully charged fire extinguisher. The facility has age appropriate toys, furniture, and equipment available for children to use. There are storage spaces for children's personal belongings. There are 3 sinks and 2 total toilets inside the classroom in separate bathrooms. The facility will need to request an outdoor rotation waiver due to the shared space with the elementary school. The total indoor square footage for preschool license room 34 measured for 888.12 sq. ft. which can accommodate 25 children. The total indoor square footage for preschool license room 33 measured for 873.85 sq. ft. which can accommodate 24 children. The total outdoor square footage is 5965.52 sq. ft. which can accommodate for a total of 79 preschool aged children. ***continue to page 2*** ***Page 2 continued*** The Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption or transfer their existing clearance or exemption prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. As of today's visit, the fire clearance has not been received. Prior to approval of the new space and capacity increase, the following must be met: -Fire clearance -Carbon Monoxide detector in room 34 -Outdoor sketch of preschool yard -Outdoor rotation waiver request -Agreement with the Kentfield School District -Superintendent letter allowing preschool program to use room 33 No deficiencies are cited today under the California Code of Regulations, Title 22, Division 12. Notice of Site Visit is provided and must remain posted for 30 days. A copy of the report was reviewed and discussed with the facility representative, Caitlin Schmitt
