What the inspector wrote
On January 29, 2026, at approximately 12:50PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Nicole Tran conducted an unannounced annual inspection visit. LPA met with licensee, Aurora Elvira Ortega (L1), and her spouse, Edgar Peraza (L2), and explained the purpose of the visit. Present during the visit was L1, L1, a helper, three infants and four preschool age children. The facility\342\200\231s operating hours are Monday to Friday from 8:30AM \342\200\223 4:30PM.
Daycare Areas
: Living Room #1, Kitchen, Bedroom #1, Bathroom #1, Backyard Bathroom, and Backyard.
Off Limit Areas
: Living Room #2, Bedroom #2, Bedroom #3, Master Bedroom, Master Bedroom Bathroom, Garage, and Front Yard.
LPA inspected the facility for health and safety hazards with L1 and L2. LPA observed all electrical outlets have been secured with covers or made inaccessible by furniture. Off-limit areas are secured with child safety gates, doorknob covers, and latches. Poisons, chemicals, and cleaning solutions are stored inaccessible to children in care. Facility is equipped with a fully charged 2A10BC fire extinguisher, carbon monoxide and smoke detector, and a complete first aid kit. LPA did not observe any swimming pools or other similar bodies of water on the premises. Per L2, there are no firearms or weapons at the facility.
LPA observed Living Room #1 to have a variety of age-appropriate toys and equipment. There is a playhouse for dramatic play and areas for rest and relaxation. There are also carpets and rugs to cushion the ground for any falls. Furniture is in good repair and is free of loose, sharp, and rough edges. Children nap on mats and in cribs. Per L2, families provide linens and bedding for children and brings them home to wash.

The facility provides a full food service that includes breakfast, lunch, and snacks. Food is prepared and cooked on site. Per L2, currently enrolled children do not have any allergies or medications. Drinking water is readily available from a water filtration system as needed.
The Backyard is fully fenced and enclosed. Outdoor toys and equipment were observed to be in good condition. There is a large play structure with soil underneath to cushion falls underneath the slide and swings. Trees and a gazebo offer ample shade for children to rest under. There is also a bathroom and changing table outside for children\342\200\231s use. Outdoor storage has been secured with locks.

LPA reviewed four children\342\200\231s files and facility records. Children\342\200\231s records are complete and included their emergency information and consent for emergency medical treatment. All required postings were available for review in the Living Room. All adults living and working in the home have been associated to the facility and have criminal record clearance. The last emergency drill was conducted on January 9, 2026. L1, L2, and helper have current mandated reporter training expiring and pediatric CPR/First Aid certification expiring in May 2027. Facility has current child care liability insurance.
LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at

as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at

and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.

Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
During the exit interview, the licensee confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS.
Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California.
