Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Marie Rodriguez conducted a scheduled case management visit and met with Director Jenine Gallardo. Director is requesting to use two designated spaces for outdoor use along with the Marin Art & Garden Center. Director is requesting to use the outdoor area right in front of the building and an enclosed atrium that is located right outside of the facility. Present at the center is the Director, a teacher, and 2 children who are part of their aftercare and tutoring program. LPA checked both areas for health and safety hazards and measured to calculate outdoor capacity. Total usable square footage for outdoor area right in front of the building is 1,326.72 divided by 75 sq ft equals 17 children . LPA has requested a collapsible fence be put at both entry points of the outdoor space when in use due to possible foot traffic by the public on either side of the outdoor area. Total usable square footage for the enclosed atrium is 1,297.02 divided by 75 sq ft equals 17 children . Atrium will be used during rainy days. Neighbors of the center in the building have approved the center's use of the atrium. LPA requested for Director to prepare a letter requesting a waiver to use the designated spaces. Director prepared a waiver request during visit. LPA will approve the designated spaces to be used as an outdoor play area for children. Exit interview was conducted and report was reviewed with Director Jenine Gallardo. A copy of report was provided. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
