What the inspector wrote

On 2/7/25, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Joseph Pacheco conducted an unannounced Case Management inspection and met with Site Supervisor, Maria Teresa Aguilar. LPA toured the inside and outside of the facility. The licensee is Merced County Office of Education (MCOE), and they are requesting a capacity decrease from 80 preschool children to 60 preschool children. Facility is currently licensed to operate in classrooms 1-4 but will no longer be using classroom 3. Room 3 will now be used by a different program under MCOE where parents will be on-site with their children. This facility currently operates Monday \342\200\223 Friday on a traditional school year schedule from 8:00 am \342\200\223 2:30 pm. Facility provides breakfast, lunch and PM snack. Food is prepared at Merced County Office of Education centralized kitchen and delivered daily. There are two staff bathrooms, one is located between classrooms 2 and 4 and the other is located next to classroom 1. Ill children will be isolated in the Site Supervisor\342\200\231s office and will utilize either of the two staff bathrooms. Cleaning supplies are inaccessible to children. The classroom was observed to be clean and free of toxins. LPA observed that the furniture and equipment in the classrooms appeared to be safe and in good condition. Facility has a smoke detector and carbon monoxide system installed throughout the building. The owner\342\200\231s manual is kept in the Director\342\200\231s office. LPA observed that there are plenty of tables, chairs, cots and cubbies. LPA observed plenty of age appropriate items & toys. Room measurements in the classroom were taken and reviewed with Site Supervisor. The total inside preschool area of the classroom measured to an approximate 2,800 square feet which will accommodate 60 preschool children. There is a total of 9 toilets and 17 sinks/hand washing fixtures which will accommodate 60 preschool children. Facility provides drinking water from drinking fountains in each classroom. Staff fill up an igloo water dispenser that they bring outside with them along with paper cups for outdoor activities. The outdoor activity area measured to an approximate 7,920 square feet which is sufficient to accommodate 60 preschool children. LPA observed a high climbing play structure with wood chip cushioning in the outdoor activity area. The equipment observed appeared to be age appropriate. LPA observed a shade structure over the high climbing play structure that will provide adequate shade. CONTINUED ON LIC809-C. LPA reminded Site Supervisor to make sure they maintain visual supervision of children at all times. A fire safety inspection for the above classrooms was conducted by the Merced County Fire Department Livingston Fire Station on 1/23/25. Pending a final file review, a recommendation will be made to license classrooms 1, 2 and 4 for a capacity of 60 preschool children. Per Title 22, Division 12, Chapter 1, of the California Code of Regulations, no deficiencies are cited. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Site Supervisor, Maria Teresa Aguilar. A notice of site visit was given to Site Supervisor and must remain posted on, or immediately adjacent to, the interior side of the main door for 30 days. A copy of this report is to remain in the facility for public review. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100.
