What the inspector wrote

On 10/18/23, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Joseph Pacheco conducted an unannounced Case Management inspection and met with Program Coordinator, Anna Moreno. LPA explained the reason for the inspection and a tour of the center was conducted both inside and outside. The licensee is requesting an increase of capacity from 40 preschool children to 60 preschool children by adding one additional classroom. This program currently operates year round from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM in classroom 1 and 3. The increase of capacity will operate in classroom 2. Program Coordinator stated that the facility provides all meals and snacks. Ill children will be isolated in the Site Supervisor\342\200\231s office and utilize the staff bathroom in their office. Cleaning supplies are kept in locked storage areas which are inaccessible to children. All classrooms were observed to be clean and free of toxins. LPA observed that the furniture and equipment in each classroom appeared to be safe and in good condition. LPA observed that the center has a working carbon monoxide detector installed. There is enough chairs, tables, and sleeping mats. LPA observed plenty of age appropriate items & toys. Room measurements in all classrooms were taken and reviewed with Program Coordinator. The total inside area of all classrooms measured to an approximate 2,410 square feet which will accommodate the requested capacity of 60 preschool children. There is adequate storage space available for children's belongings. There is a total of 6 toilets and 10 sinks/hand washing fixtures which will accommodate the requested capacity. Facility uses water provided by a water vendor service to fill igloo jugs located in each classroom. Facility also has drinking water fountains to provide water during indoor activities. Staff bring the igloo jugs and cup dispensers outside during outdoor activities. The outside square footage measured to an approximate 6,628 square feet which will accommodate 60 preschool children. Shade structures provide a shaded rest area. LPA reminded Licensee to make sure they maintain visual supervision of children at all times. High climbing play equipment with adequate cushioning was observed. A fire clearance for 60 preschool children was received and granted by the Merced County Fire Department on 9/22/23.
