What the inspector wrote

On 10/06/2021, Licensing Program Analyst, Juvenal Moctezuma conducted an unannounced case management inspection and met with Lead Teacher, Liliana Gracian. LPA explained the reason of the inspection and a tour of the center was conducted both inside and outside. The center is located on the premises of Le Grand Elementary School on 13071 E. Le Grand Rd in Le grand, CA. Licensee is requesting an increase of capacity of 20 Preschool Children. This program will operate through a traditional school year, Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 03:30 PM. Breakfast and lunch will be provided and prepared at facility. Staff will utilize the staff bathroom located by the front office. Ill children will be isolated in the nurses office and use the bathroom located there. The classroom was observed to be clean and free of toxins. The cleaning items/supplies will be stored underneath the classroom sink which will remain locked during day-care hours. LPA observed that the furniture and equipment appeared to be safe and in good condition. There are plenty of age appropriate items, storage space available for children's belongings, tables & chairs to meet the requested capacity. Room measurements were taken during the prelicensing inspection on 6/5/2020 and reviewed with Liliana. The total inside preschool area measured to an approximate 1,048 square feet which will accommodate the requested preschool capacity. There is adequate storage space available for children's belongings. Toys and equipment are age appropriate. There are two drinking fountains and two sinks inside the classroom. There are two bathrooms with one toilet and one sink each. The outdoor play area is located towards the front of the school. Liliana stated that staff always have supervision of children when walking to the playground. The outdoor measurements were taken and reviewed with Liliana during the prelicensing inspection that was conducted back in 6/5/2020. The outside preschool playground was measured to an approximate 11,928 square feet which will accommodate the requested preschool capacity of 20 preschool children. A waiver is in place since playground is shared with Kindergarten children using separate schedules. Report Continued Onto LIC 809-C There are mature trees for shade and adequate outdoor storage for children's toys and equipment. The licensee is using rubber chips for cushioning under the outdoor climbing structure. The climbing structure has an age sticker for 2-5 years old. Liliana stated that they take children's water bottles so they can have water readily available to them. LPA reminded licensee to make sure they have visual supervision of children at all times. A fire clearance for 20 children was received and granted by the Merced County Fire Department on 08/10/2021. This facility plans to provide Incidental Medical Services – IMS. For IMS information, see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. A Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. Corrections: Submit updated LIC 200A. Submit proof for 5 additional cots Amend waiver Pending a final file review and completion of above items, a recommendation will be made to license the above facility for a capacity of 20 preschool children.
