What the inspector wrote

On 03/24/2026, Licensing Program Manager (LPA), Joseph Pacheco and Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Yesenia Fierro conducted an unannounced Case Management inspection and met with Program Coordinator, Malik Turner. LPM and LPA toured the inside and outside of the facility. The licensee Merced County Office of Education (MCOE) is requesting a capacity decrease from 49 preschoolers to 20 preschoolers. MCOE will no longer be using classroom 2. This program currently operates Monday – Friday, from 8:00AM – 2:30pm. Facility currently operates in one classroom. LPM and LPA observed that the center has four (4) sinks and three (3) toilets. There is adequate storage space available for children's belongings. LPM and LPA observed that the furniture and equipment in the building appeared to be safe and in good condition. LPM and LPA observed that there are plenty of tables and chairs, age-appropriate items & toys and learning materials. Room measurements taken and reviewed with Program Coordinator, Malik Turner. The total inside area measured to an approximate 863.15 square feet which will accommodate the capacity of 20 preschool children requested. A fire clearance for 20 preschool children was granted by the Merced County Fire Department on 2/26/2026. Pending a final file review a recommendation will be made to license the above facility for a capacity of 20 preschool children. Per Title 22, Division 12, Chapter 1, of the California Code of Regulations, there are no deficiencies being cited during today’s inspection. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Program Coordinator Malik Turner. Appeal rights were provided Notice of Site Visit was provided and required to be posted for 30 days.
