What the inspector wrote

On 01/07/2026, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Ka Vang conducted an unannounced Annual Random Inspection and was met by Licensee Pauline Gomez. Also present in the daycare home was licensee\342\200\231s assistant (Staff #2). Licensee confirmed that the facility operates Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The home has a working telephone service, and LPA confirmed the phone number. This is a single level home with no stairs. LPA conducted a tour of the home, both inside and outside, and took a census of the children present. Capacity as specified on the license is being maintained. LPA reviewed the current facility sketch and confirmed that family room, daycare room (classroom), kitchen, dining room, and hallway restroom are designated for child care areas and are accessible to children. All other rooms in the home are off-limits and made inaccessible as all doors are locked during daycare hours of operation. Safe toys and age-appropriate play equipment were observed. LPA observed a built-in swimming pool located in the backyard and is fully enclosed by a mesh fence measuring 60 inches in height. The gate is self-latching, self-closing, and opens away from the pool, meeting regulatory requirements. LPA confirmed that no windows or doors provided direct access to the pool area. The swimming pool is equipped with the following safety features: a minimum 12-foot rescue hook, a 20-inch United States Coast Guard (USCG)-approved life ring, a pool alarm compliant with ASTM F2208, a daily Swimming Pool inspection log. (Continued on LIC809-C) Licensees confirmed that there are no firearms on the premises. All poisons are kept in a locked storage area, and no poisons were observed during the inspection. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, and other hazardous items were observed to be made inaccessible to children. There is one fire place located inside the living room, and it is made inaccessible to the children by usig a screen. Licensee stated that the fireplace is not being used during daycare hours. LPA did not observe any open-face heaters in the daycare area. LPA observed a working fire extinguisher, smoke detector, and carbon monoxide detector. The home has adequate heating and ventilation for the safety and comfort of children in care. LPA observed that the fire and disaster drills have been conducted and documented every six months, including the date, time, and number of children present. Licensee ensures that children in care are supervised at all times and acknowledge that children shall never be left unattended in parked vehicles. The outdoor pay area located in the backyard is fully fenced, and no hazards were observed. LPAs reviewed a sample of children\342\200\231s files and observed that each file was complete with the required emergency information. The licensee\342\200\231s pediatric CPR/First Aid certification is valid until 01/2028. A review of staff records indicates that the licensee and all employees and/or volunteers have immunization records on file for influenza, pertussis, and measles, as required. LPA discussed the Community Care Licensing website www.ccld.ca.gov which will provide access to resources such as forms, regulations Provider Information Notices (PINs), and Quarterly Updates. LPA discussed Reporting Requirements as outlined in the regulations (Section 102416.2) with Licensee. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in the Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. (Continued on LIC809-C). LPA discussed safe sleep regulations with Licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-andresources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed Licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02- CCP. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department.
