What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Fermin Campos-Jaramillo conducted an unannounced case management inspection today. The purpose of the inspection is to increase the capacity of the license from a current total of 110 children to a total of 130 children. The new capacity will include the toddler component serving 12 children between the ages of 18 months to 24 months in the room #3. LPA met with Site Director Laura Dunn and explained the purpose of today's inspection to her. LPA Campos-Jaramillo toured the facility both inside and out. Present during today's visit were 12 staff and 73 children. A clearance from the Monterey County Regional Fire District was received prior to today's visit. Preschool will use the rooms #1, #2, #3 (toddlers), #4, #5, #7, #8, and #9. Today LPA measured the additional room #9 Previous measurements taken on 07/07/2008: Room 1 has 779.25 sq. ft. Room 2 has 763.954 sq. ft. Room 3 has 823.539 sq. ft. Room 4/5 has 1546.461 sq. ft. Measurements for rooms number 7 and 8 were taken on 5/22/18 Room 7 has 853.090 sq. ft. Room 8 has 854.095 sq. ft. The total square footage including room #9: Room 1 has 779.25 sq. ft. Room 2 has 763.954 sq. ft. Room 3 has 823.539 sq. ft. Room 4/5 has 1546.461 sq. ft. Room 7 has 853.090 sq. ft. Room 8 has 854.095 sq. ft. Room 9 has 805.380 sq. ft. Total indoor square footage = 6,425.769 divided by 35 = 183 children. ***********Report dated 9/13/23 continues on page 2********** ********Report continues from page 1*************** Outdoor space measurements were not taken during today's visit since the facility is currently active and was previously measured. Previous measurement for OUTDOOR SPACE: Playground next to room 4/5 has 15,927.915 sq. ft. Playground behind rooms 1,2 & 3 has 7,074 sq. ft. Playground in front of rooms 1,2 & 3 has 4,658 sq. ft.(toddler option playground) Total playground square footage = 27,659.915 divided by 75 = 368 children. There are a total of 20 sinks (300). There are a total of 12 toilets plus 2 urinals for preschool age children (210). LPA observed there are appropriate diaper changing tables in the bathroom area of the toddler room which are arms reach of a sink. The staff has a separate bathroom. There are 160 cubbies, 43 small tables, 149 small chairs. The center currently has only 90 cots/mats. Site Director stated the percentage of full children attending full time and taking naps is only 80%, Site Director understands that a cot/mat shall be provided to each child taking a nap. Director understands the conditions, limitations, and capacity specifications of the Facility license. LPA observed all furniture and equipment is in good condition and safe for the children. LPA observed fully charged 2A10BC fire extinguishers and working smoke/carbon monoxide detectors. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Site Director Laura Dunn. No deficiencies were cited today. Notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100. LPA advised Site Director Laura Dunn, that licensure for 130 children will be approved pending the following: - Management's approval - Proof of acquiring at least 15 more cots/mats.
