What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs), Marilou Monico and Andrea Cortez, met with Program Director, Laura Dunn, for a Case Management inspection in response to licensee's request to move back from Classroom 3 to the original location with new portable. LPAs toured the facility both indoor and outdoor as well as measured the indoor space available for the children. Indoor measurements are as follows: Apple Pie Room: 39.25 x 22.92 = 899.61 minus 107.81 (encumbered space) = 791.80 Total preschool indoor space = 791.80 divided by 35 sq. ft. = 22 children There are two (2) sinks and two (2) toilets available for the children. The classroom has three (3) tables, 10 mats, five (5) chairs, and 25 cubbies. Additional chairs, tables and furniture will be moved to the classroom from Classroom 3 once licensed. There is a fully charged 3A40BC fire extinguisher (last serviced: 03/28/24), functioning carbon monoxide and smoke detectors. Drinking water will be provided to the children via water dispenser and individual water bottles. LPAs observed toys and equipment that is age appropriate and safe for day care children. There is a staff bathroom located in the Office Building. The sick children will be isolated in the health aide area located in the Office Building. The sick children will use the staff bathroom if needed and will be accompanied by a staff member. The facility offers a half day and full day program and serves morning/afternoon snacks and lunch to the children enrolled. The food is provided through the Carmel Unified School District and is brought to the school daily. Food shall be stored in the cafeteria and brought to the classroom when food is to be served. Continuation on next page: The playground is surrounded with less than 4 feet fence. Shade is provided by trees and canopies. There are climbing structures in the yard with sand as resilient material under and around the structures. No bodies of water were observed. Drinking water outdoor is via filtered drinking fountains and individual water bottles. Fire clearance for 20 children was approved by Carmel Fire Department on September 12, 2024. Exit interview conducted and the report was reviewed with Program Director, Laura Dunn. A licensed for 20 children will be granted pending manager review/approval and submission of the following items: 1) Playground's fence shall be at least four (4) feet tall. 2) Construction debris shall be removed from the play areas. 3) Proof that the building including plumbing was built after 2010. 4) Photo showing that a refrigerator to store perishable foods shall be added in the classroom.
