Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs), Cortney Nelson and Andrea Cortez, met with Site Director, Tianna Delpozzo, to follow-up on incident that occurred on 3/11/2024. Upon arrival, LPAs were admitted into the facility by Tianna and observed that the facility is located on the campus of the Dual Language Academy of the Monterey Peninsula. The facility self-reported to the Department that on 3/11/2024 C1 went into the bathroom while C2 was also in the bathroom and it was alleged that C1 touched C2 private parts. The classroom was being supervised by S1 and C2 told S1 what happened. LPAs observed video footage of the classroom during the incident and observed that C1 entered the restroom for approximately three (3) seconds when the alleged incident occurred. C2 was observed leaving the restroom fully clothed and approached S1. LPAs conducted interview with staff who were present when the incident occurred, with C1 and C2, as well as the Site Director, Tianna. Based on video recording and interview, it does not appear that there was lack of supervision that resulted in the alleged incident. S1 was supervising the classroom and was observed to be standing in front of the restroom for majority of the time while C2 was in the restroom. The restroom in the classroom is equipped with a door, allowing children privacy, that staff can easily view children while in use. There is a latch in the bathroom that children can lock while using the restroom. LPAs provided technical assistance to Site Director, Tianna, regarding additional steps that can be taken in response to the incident that occurred. As a result of todays inspection, no deficiencies were cited. Exit interview conducted and the report was reviewed with the Site Director, Tianna Delpozzo. A NOTICE OF SITE VISIT WAS GIVEN AND MUST BE POSTED FOR 30 DAYS.
