What the inspector wrote

On 12/20/2022 at 9:50 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Susy Cervantes, met with director, Nittaya Robinson, and supervisor, Ashley Reyes for a case management visit to increase the preschool capacity. LPA was informed that classroom 5B will be added to the capacity. LPA toured the facility both inside and out as well as measured the indoor space only. A fire clearance for 268 children was received from the Seaside Fire Department prior to today's visit. The following measurement were taken today: ROOM 5B main floor 30.833 x 27.167 = 837.64 minus 51.42 (encumbered space) = 786.22 ROOM 5B exit area 11.917 x 11.5 = 137.05 TOTAL 5B PRESCHOOL INDOOR SPACE: 923.27 sq. ft. divided by 35 = 26 children. TOTAL PRESCHOOL INDOOR SPACE: 8,821.205 + 923.27 = 9744.475 sq. ft. divided by 35 = 278 Outdoor measurement taken 07/31/2017: PLAYGROUND 1 = 97.333 x 86.000 = 8,370.638 118.583 x 186.000 = 22,056.438 80.750 x 44.417 = 3,586.672 37.583 x 12.500 = 469.787 Playground 1 total = 34,483.535 minus 1,069.135 = 33,414.40 PLAYGROUND 2 = 35.500 x 11.750 = 417.125 64.333 x 56.000 = 3,602.648 Playground 2 total = 4,019.773 minus 35.081 = 3,984.692 TOTAL PRESCHOOL OUTDOOR SPACE = 37,399.092 divided by 75 sq. ft. = 498 children There are 27 sinks (405), 18 toilets (270), and 4 urinals (60) available for the children. Only cold water is available in the children's sinks. There are 2 separate bathrooms in room 9, administrative office, that will be used by the sick child. The sick child will be isolated in the nurse's office and isolation equipment is provided. LPA observed no fireplaces or wall heaters at the facility. The rooms have appropriate lighting. The center will be administering medication and the medication lock box is located in each classroom. First aid supplies are stored in each room and the administrative office, are adequate and are inaccessible to children. Carbon monoxide detectors are operable. There is one 3A40BC fire extinguisher that was serviced on 07/21/2022 in Room 5B. Cleaning supplies are stored inaccessible to the children. The center will be providing snacks and food for the children, snack and meals will be prepared in the main kitchen. The kitchen is equipped with refrigerator, microwave, stove, dishwasher, and sink with hot and cold running water. Plastic dishes and cups will be utilized for the children and will be hand washed. LPA observed solid waste container with tight-fitting lid in the kitchen. Continuation of report dated 12/20/2022_______________________________________ pg 3/3 There are 16 cubbies, 16 cots, 1 table, and 4 chairs; materials that have been ordered and LPA received copies of receipts: 3 tables, and 20 chairs. Drinking water is available indoors and out by water jug and water bottles. Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over responsible for administration or direct supervision of staff, persons who provides care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Staff have clearances through the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District. LPA reviewed with director the LIC 311A, Records To Be Maintained At The Facility, for child\342\200\231s records, personnel records, administrative records, and documents to be posted. Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD) regularly sends information to licensed facilities, providers, and stakeholders by way of Provider Information Notices (PIN), Program Quarterly Update Newsletters and other important information communication platform. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the director Nittaya Robinson.
