What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Fermin Campos-Jaramillo conducted an unannounced Case Management inspection to the home today. Licensee Alejandra Becerra has requested to place the converted garage of the home as full-time day care area. The home obtained on 10/10/2023 a clearance from the City of Salinas Fire Department which granted the use of the converted garage as a day care area. Days and hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 4:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Saturdays from 4:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Licensee's pediatric CPR and First Aid certifications are current and will expire on 1/16/25. LPA toured the indoor and outdoor areas of the home during today's inspection. LPA observed there are no wall heaters neither bodies of water in the home. LPA observed there are barricaded stairs inside the home. Off-limit areas inside the home: All the second floor. LPA observed licensee has a 3A40BC fire extinguisher in the day care area, and it was last time serviced on 2/3/23. LPA observed there is a pull down fire alarm located in the day care area. The home has at least one working smoke detector and at least one working carbon monoxide detector. Off limits outdoor areas are: The left side yard, the left part of the back yard, and a storage shed located in the back yard. The licensee uses the right side of the back yard as playground for the children in care. LPA observed the back yard was fenced. LPA observed the day care area has a door that leads to the right side yard, the licensee stated that children in care and their parents will access the home by the right side yard. LPA observed the washer and dryer machines are located inside of a closet in the converted garage now labeled as day care room in the facility sketch, also the sketch shows that licensee will continue using for childcare activities the living room, the dining room, the kitchen, and a half bathroom in the first floor. The license states that there are no weapons in the home. The licensee understands that cleaning products, toxic agents, medications, and sharp objects shall not be accessible to children. No deficiencies were cited today. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with licensee Alejandra Becerra in Spanish. Notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
