What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Andrea Cortez conducted an unannounced Required - 1 Year Inspection. LPA was greeted and granted entrance by the Licensee Jill Carroll. The purpose of today\342\200\231s inspection is to ensure the home is in compliance with Title 22 California Code of Regulations. Today\342\200\231s census is 7 (3 infants and 4 preschoolers). The day care hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 7:30am \342\200\223 4:30pm. The Licensee's CPR and First Aid expire May 2025. LPA reviewed a current Childcare Facility Roster and Fire/Disaster drill log during today's visit. The last fire disaster drill was conducted May 10, 2023. LPA observed sufficient materials, toys, and play equipment for the children in care. The home is orderly, and safe for the day care children. The LPA did not observe a wall heater in the home (central heat). The LPA observed a securely gated and locked fireplace in the home. The off limit areas inside the home are: all bedrooms (with the exception of bedroom #1), family bathroom, master bathroom, laundry room, back yard behind the home, and garage. There is a securely locked and covered hot tub/ jacuzzi in the side yard. The hot tub/ jacuzzi is non-operable, unplugged, and empty of water. LPA observed propane tank on the off limits side-yard fenced off.. The Licensee states there are no weapons/firearms. All detergents, cleaning compounds, poisons, medications, and other similar items are out of reach and inaccessible to children. LPA observed a fully charged 2A10BC fire extinguisher, The Licensee understands the current capacity for a large home childcare. Licensee has a posted ratio/capacity chart for reference. The Licensee states that she does not transport children; she understands that children cannot be left in parked vehicles unattended any time. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA reviewed with licensee the LIC 311A, Records to Be Maintained At The Facility, for child\342\200\231s records, personnel records, administrative records, and documents to be posted. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD) regularly sends information to licensed facilities, providers, and stakeholders by way of Provider Information Notices (PIN), Program Quarterly Update Newsletters and other important information communication platforms. Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. During the exit interview, the licensee, confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS.
