What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Joe Macias conducted an announced Prelicensing Inspection. LPA Macias was greeted and granted entrance by Administrator Ashley Reyes. The center will operate Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Prior to today's inspection LPA Macias received an approved fire clearance from Seaside Fire Department. The center is located on the Dual Language Academy of Monterey Peninsula campus in room K1. LPA toured the facility both inside and out. The following indoor measurements were taken today: PRESCHOOL ROOM: ROOM K1 40.583 x 26.500 = 1,075.449 - 10.220 encumbered space = 1,065.449 TOTAL INDOOR SPACE = 1,065.229 sq.ft. divided 35 = 30 children There are 2 sinks (30) and 2 toilets (30) available for the children in care. There are 24 cots, 3 tables, 28 chairs, and 24 cubbies available for children. Napping equipment is appropriate. The facility will provide bedding. Sick children are kept in the nurse's office, a cot for resting is also provided. Sick children will be supervised by the preschool staff. First aid supplies are stored in the Director's office, and are inaccessible to children. Cleaning supplies are securely stored and inaccessible to children. LPA observed fully charged 2A10BC fire extinguisher, and working smoke/carbon monoxide detectors. The center will only administer emergency medication and will be stored in a lock box in the nurse's office. All food will be provided by the Dual Language Academy cafeteria. There is a trash can with tight-fitting lid for the disposal of solid waste. Drinking water is provided in the indoor and outdoor spaces via filtered water dispenser, and cups. The facility has completed the required lead testing. The facility provides filtered drinking water for the children in care. LPA observed all furniture and equipment is in good condition and safe for the children. Room temperature is controlled by central heating/air conditioning. INFANT YARD: Total Infant Yard = 14,135.469 TOTAL OUTDOOR SPACE = 14,135.469 sq.ft. divided 75 = 188 children *A waiver request must be submitted for shared outdoor space as the kindergarten class also utilizes the preschool outdoor space. The yard is surrounded by appropriate fencing. Shade is provided by the building awning. No transportation is provided by the center. There is a working telephone in the office (831) 899.1100. LPA Macias discussed the requirements of AB 633 to the Licensee representative and provided her the fact sheet and a copy of Acknowledgement of Receipt of Licensing Reports (LIC 9224) and Applicant understands the requirements. Clearances for individuals at this facility who require caregiver background checks are issued by State Department and/or County Office of Education and do not come under the jurisdiction of Community Care Licensing Division. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02-CCP . When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. Applicant Ashley Reyes was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org site, a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. A notice of site visit was given to Applicant Ashley Reyes and must remain posted on, or immediately adjacent to, the interior side of the main door for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the Applicant Ashley Reyes. LPA Macias advised the Applicant that the license is pending management approval.
