What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Glenn Ouye met with licensee, Julieta Whiteside to review the outdoor activity area prior to the license going to active status. The facility is currently on inactive status due to the 2020 Glass Fire. The the facility is fully restored however part of the outdoor activity area is fenced off and is still awaiting to be rebuilt. During this time, the facility will utilize the elementary school playground until the outdoor area construction is completed. The facility will operation hours are: Monday through Thursday: 8am to 5pm and Fridays: 8:00am to 4:30pm. The licensee has provided the department with a written plan while utilizing the elementary school outdoor playground. An updated sketch has been submitted with the plan. The facility staff have put cones across the yard to indicated the off limits area (which is the elementary school play structures). The staff will also provide direct and continuous supervision to ensure that the children are in the field or blacktop area. An age appropriate climbing structure will be install on the grass lawn. There is sufficient shade from the trees in the playground. The children can also use the covered cement area outside of the classroom on rainy or hot days. The licensee has provided a rotation schedule for the preschool children outdoor activity time. This will ensure that the preschool children are not present in the outdoor area when the school age children are using the outdoor area. The rotation schedule will be posted at the door. This schedule has been coordinated with the elementary school principal. The preschool children will use the outdoor activity area from 8:30am to 9:30am, 10:50am to 11:50am and 3:30pm to 4:30pm. The licensee has agreed to notify the department when the original fenced outdoor activity area construction will commence and provide updates to the point of completion. The department will need to conduct an inspection of and approved the use of the newly rebuilt outdoor activity area when it is completed. The facility license will be changed from inactive status to active status effective today, January 10, 2022. An updated license will be sent to the licensee.
