What the inspector wrote

An announced case management inspection was conducted on this date by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Stacy Torrence. The facility has requested a decrease in capacity. The facility is currently licensed for 208 preschool children and 36 toddler option children, total capacity of 244. The facility is requesting to decrease to 178 preschool children, no change in toddler option program. The facility has requested to change room #9 licensed preschool classroom to an Elementary classroom. LPA met with Aida King, Director, who guided analyst on a tour of the facility. Census was taken. There was a total of 126 preschool children present, with 18 staff supervising and 23 toddler option children, with 7 staff supervising. Operations hours are Monday-Friday; 7:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m., serving children ages 2.6-6 years old and toddler option children ages; 18 months-36 months. Classrooms: #2, #3, #4, #5, #6, #7, and #8. A review of staff records on this date indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who required caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions. All areas identified on the Facility Sketch were inspected. If children become ill during the day, they will rest in the isolation area located, director\342\200\231s office. Medication is stored in the director's office, in a locked cabinet. Furniture and equipment were inspected for age appropriateness and good repair. Drinking water is readily available to children both indoor and outdoor. First Aid supplies were inventoried. Sign in / sign out record meets regulation requirements. The facility does provide an AM and PM snack, snacks are bought by parents. Facility also provide lunch or children bring lunch from home. Food prep areas appear clean and sanitary. Food is properly stored. Indoor Activity Space Measurements: Room #2: 1,397 sqft Room #3: 806 sqft Room #4: 1,092 sqft Room #5: 1,065 sqft Room #6: 1,036 sqft Room #7: 1,038 sqft Room #8: 1,079 sqft Total: 7,513 sqft divided by 35= 214 children Total children toilets and sinks: Toddler Toilets: 3 x 15= 45 children Toddler Sinks: 4 x 15= 60 children Preschool Toilets: 18 x 15= 270 children Preschool Sinks: 26 x 15= 390 children Total outdoor activity area: 8,617 sqft. divided by 75 = 114 children Facility has a waiver for infants and toddlers to share playground on rotating schedule. Playground is completely enclosed. Outdoor activity area is supplied with age and size appropriate equipment. An adequate amount of cushioning material is in place under the equipment. Shade is provided by a canopy. Drinking water is provided by children's bringing their own water bottle from home. Facility provides re-fills by using a gallon of water. . Based on today's inspection, facility has enough space for the requested decrease capacity of 178 preschool children. Center Director Aida King required CPR/1 st Aid training expires on 04/2023. Facility provides Incidental Medical services. In the areas evaluated, no deficiency was observed and cited today per CA Code of Regulations, Title 22, and Division 12. Facility meets all licensing requirements and file will be submitted for approval. Exit interview was conducted. A copy of this report and appeal rights were discussed and provided to the director. The Notice of Site Visit was posted. The director was informed that the Notice of Site Visit must be posted for 30 consecutive days. Failure to post will result in civil penalties of $100.
