What the inspector wrote

On 07/24/2025, Licensing Program Analysts (LPA), Anna Chan and Jessica Carreiro conducted an onsite inspection for the purpose of an unannounced Annual Inspection. LPA met with Director Aida King and toured the facility inside and outside and the floor and yard plan (LIC 999) were verified. Census was taken in individual classrooms. The overall census observed was 98 Preschool children and 18 staff. During the inspection it was determined the facility is operating within its licensed capacity and within compliance of staffing ratios. Facility hours are 7:00 a.m.- 6:00p.m., Monday through Friday. A review of the Facility Personnel Report Summary on this date indicates all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions. During the inspection of the indoor activity space, items which could pose a danger to children (detergents, cleaning compounds, and medications) were observed to be stored out of the reach of children. Poisons/Hazardous Items are not kept on the premises. Food is prepared on site; Lunch and snacks are brought from home and children are also given an option for purchased school lunch. Food prep areas were clean and sanitary. Food is properly stored. Floors, equipment, and furniture were clean and were observed to be in good repair and free of sharp edges. There is drinking water available to children indoors by filtered water pitchers and sports bottles with the child\342\200\231s name on it. Children nap on cots and beddings are stored individually. Beddings are brought home for washing weekly. Page 1 of 3 The facility has a working carbon monoxide detector and fire extinguisher. The facility has conducted an emergency drill within the past six months on 07/23/25. Facility met all posting requirements. The California Child Passenger Safety Law was posted by the entrance of the facility The outdoor activity space was inspected for compliance. The playground was enclosed by a fence at least four feet in height. The cushioning material used is turf grass, and black top rubber cushioning around the climbing equipment, and other similar equipment appeared to be enough to absorbs falls. There is drinking water available to children outdoors by filtered water pitchers and sports bottles with the child\342\200\231s name on it. Toddlers have a waiver to use playground at separate times with preschoolers. The facility grounds were safe, sanitary and in good repair. There are no bodies of water present at the facility and none was observed during the visit. 8 Staff files were reviewed for staff present during the facility inspection on this date Health screening and immunizations as required were reviewed. Beginning September 1, 2016, Health and Safety (H&S)\302\2471596.7995. (a) (1) Commencing September 1, 2016, a person shall not be employed or volunteer at a day care center if he or she has not been immunized against influenza, pertussis, and measles. Each employee and volunteer shall receive an influenza vaccination between August 1 and December 1 of each year. Proof of immunization against pertussis, measles, and influenza (or written declaration of such) were reviewed and within compliance. Beginning March 31, 2018, H&S Code 1596.8662 requires all directors and employees to complete mandated reporting training, and to renew the training every two years. At least one staff member present possesses current Pediatric CPR/First Aid certifications American Heart Association, which expires 03/2027. Director Aida King was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Page 2 of 3 8 Children's records were reviewed, and there was a separate, complete and current record for each child. Electronic Sign in/out procedure through Procare was reviewed. Each child representative has their own login ID for sign in and out. In the areas reviewed the children\342\200\231s files were found to be in full compliance. Currently there are medications in the facility. This facility provides Incidental Medical Services \342\200\223 IMS. LPAs reviewed storage of \342\200\234medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children\342\200\231s, personnel, and administrative records. For IMS information see PIN 22-02-CCP. LPAs discussed the safe sleep regulations with the director and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPAs also informed the director of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. In the areas that were evaluated, NO deficiencies were observed of the California Code of Regulations, Title 22, Division 12 at the time of the visit. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed and discussed with the Director Aida King. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days and Appeal Rights were provided.
