What the inspector wrote

Page 2 During the course of investigation, LPA interviewed 6 staff members, 7 children and 4 parents, and reviewed records. Regarding allegations (1) Staff did not accord child dignity in their relationship with staff. LPA interviewed 6 staff members, 6 out of 6 staff stated they have not witnessed a staff violate a child\342\200\231s dignity in their relationship with a staff. Staff 1 (S1) stated \342\200\234We talk to the children and let them know that it's not ok what they are doing. We redirect them to the Director if we need to and let their parents know\342\200\235. S4 stated, \342\200\234Staff always give verbal warning and if the behavior continues. We let the director know and she will talk to the child then she will talk to the parents if it behavior continues\342\200\235. S5 stated, \342\200\234We talk to the children, to help calm them down. A lot of verbal conversation. If they don't want to follow or listen, we ask another teacher to help assist and talk to the child and then we ask for the Director for assistance, if the child doesn\342\200\231t listen to us. For injuries, we complete an incident reports, and Director will talk to the parents\342\200\235. Regarding allegations (2) Staff yelled at child. LPA interviewed 6 staff members, 6 out of 6 staff stated they have not witnessed a staff yell at children. S2 stated," when a child displays a challenging behavior and it continues, the staff inform the director or operational director, and they will speak to the child. The director or operational director do speak to child in a direct and firm manner, because if it is brought to them, that means the child is not listening or following teachers guidance. They will meet with parents if behavior continues. Director always inform parents, if director or operational director spoke to their child. S4 stated, \342\200\234I haven\342\200\231t witnessed staff yelling. Staff sometimes uses a firm voice, but not yelling\342\200\235. S5 stated, \342\200\234I wouldn't say yelling but sometimes S1 uses a firm tone to get the children\342\200\231s attention\342\200\235. LPA Duron interviewed 7 children. All 7 interviewed children did not reveal any staff violating their rights. LPA Duron interviewed 4 parents. All interviewed parents stated they did not have any concern with facility. Page 2 of 3 Page 3 Based on the information gathered from LPAs\342\200\231 interviews, observation, and the reviewing of records, there is insufficient evidence to corroborate the allegations: Staff did not accord child dignity in their relationship with staff. Staff yelled at a child. Although the allegations may have happened or are valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove the allegations did or did not occur in the day care facility, therefore the allegations are UNSUBSTANTIATED. An exit interview was completed. The report was reviewed and discussed. Appeal Rights were provided.
