What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) P Rivas met with Kelly Santos, Program Director, Designated applicant for the purpose of obtaining a capacity increase for the school age Program. This facility is located on Juliet Morris Elementary School grounds and the current capacity is 96 the requested capacity is 258 children. The applicant is requesting school age program to include :MPR, RM 13, RM43, RM44 DC1(formerly C3) and DC2(formerly B2). School Age program operates M-F 1:00pm to 6:00pm and summer hours 8:00am to 5:00pm. DC1 and DC2 will only be used after 12:00noon if needed. ROOMS DC1 AND DC2 are also currently used in the preschool program under license # 300614038.RM DC3(formerly A1) is used under the preschool license. A new lic 200A that includes summer hours was provided. A fire clearance was received 07/01/2024 for total capacity of 318 (258 school age and 60 preschool). There is no change under the pre school license. During today's visit LPA inspected MPR, RMS 13, 43, 44, DC1 AND DC2 AND DC3. LPA observed 63 school age children three qualified teachers and two assistant teachers caring for children. Ms. Santos reported there are no guns or weapons in the facility, smoking is not allowed. Isolation is conducted in Program Director's office and the use of staff restroom will be used. Drinking water is available via own water bottles and facility provides water, faucets not in use. Medications are kept in director's office. LPA advised Ms. Santos to make sure supervision of children is provided at all times and that all exits are secured. Based on H&S code 1596.806(a), (a)(1), (1)(2) and (d) facility is exempt from square footage requirements. page 2 LPA advised Ms. Santos Program Director that Licensing Quarterly Updates are available at www.ccld.ca.gov director may request to be added to an email list to receive a Quarterly Update by contacting the Child Care Advocate at childcareadvocatesprogram@dss.ca.gov or at www.ccld.ca.gov Information on the additional nutrition training, immunization requirements for children, and Health Schools Act ( http://www.cdpr.ca.gov/docs/pestmgt/schoolipm.htm ) were provided. The director was informed, and website given, about the California Child Care Disaster Plan has been posted to the UCSF California Childcare Health Program website: cchp.ucsf.edu/content/disaster-preparedness Also provided was information about the E-Learning Modules available at https://ccld.childcarevideos.org A copy of the California Department of Social Services Lead Information Brochure was explained and provided to the facility representative. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with Ms. Santos Program director and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep LPA also informed Ms. Santos of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. https//www.cdph.ca.gov/programs/SIDS/Documents/SIDSchildcaresafesleep.pdf Spanish: https//www.cdph.ca.gov/programs/SIDS/Documents/ChildCareProvSleepSPAN2011.pdf https://www.healthychildren.org/English/ages-stages/baby/sleep/Pages/A-Parents-Guide-to-Safe-Sleep.aspx NIH: https://safetosleep.nichd.nih.gov/safesleepbasics/environment/room/text_alternative Safe to Sleep Campaign: https://safetosleep.nichd.nih.gov/materials Ms Santos, Program Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. page 3 LPA provided Guardian Information and website info: https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/cdss-programs/community-care-licensing/caregiver-background-check/guardian In the areas that were evaluated, no deficiencies were observed of the California Code of Regulations, Title 22, Division 12 at the time of the visit. LPA has received all documents requested. Based on review of file, visit conducted, new capacity and use of rooms will be granted effective today's date. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the Ms. Santos. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100. Appeal Rights were discussed. The facility representative was provided a copy of their appeal rights (LIC 9058) and their signature on this form acknowledges receipt of these rights. All appeals must be in writing and received by the Regional Office within 15 business days.
