What the inspector wrote

On 03/04/2026, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs), K. Trinh and S. Jung conducted an unannounced Case Management inspection for a shared playground waiver request. Upon arrival, LPAs met with Facility Representative , Melonie Copeland . Present during today\342\200\231s inspection were thirteen (13) children with two (2) staff. Appropriate ratios and supervision were observed. The outdoor activity space utilized for the children was inspected today. LPA informed Facility Representative that staff are required to maintain direct visual supervision of the children at all times during indoor and outdoor activities. The Facility is requesting to allow the preschool children to share the primary school playground with the elementary school children. The facility has created a shared playground schedule to ensure that the preschool children do not use the playground simultaneously with the other elementary school grades. Hours of operation are 8:00am-11:00am, Monday to Friday. LPAs toured the facility and measured the outdoor activity s pace. The facility currently has a fully fenced playground area. The fence is at least four feet high. The total square footage for all the outdoor activity space is 20176 square feet, which is sufficient to accommodate the preschool's capacity. Shade is provided via a shade sail and the roofing of the building. There are sufficient outdoor age-appropriate toys and play equipment available on the playground. There is one (1) climbing structure on the preschool playground and and swings. There is adequate cushioning in fall zones of climbers provided by grass, sand, and rubber mats. Drinking water is available refillable water bottles labeled with the children's names. (Go to page 2) (Page 2) LPAs observed all hazardous items on the playground to be inaccessible to children. Director was reminded that any changes to the facility must be reported to and approved by Community Care Licensing. No deficiency was cited. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the Facility Representative, Melonie Copeland . A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Failure to post it will result in civil penalties of $100. \342\200\234The licensee was provided a copy of their appeal rights and their signature on this form acknowledges receipt of these rights.\342\200\235 End of report.
