What the inspector wrote

A case management inspection was conducted on this date by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Stacy Torrence. The facility has requested a decrease in capacity. The facility is currently licensed for 102 children and requesting to decrease to 78 children. The facility has requested to remove classroom #7(Kindergarten) from the preschool program license and add that classroom to the school-age program license. LPA met with Rebecca Nehez, Director, who guided analyst on a tour of the facility. Census was taken. There was a total of 66 preschool children present, with 8 staff supervising. Operations hours are Monday-Friday; 6:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. and 1 Friday per month; 6:30 a.m.-10:00 a.m.; serving children ages 2-6 years old. Waiver for shared playground on file. A review of staff records on this date indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who required caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions. All areas identified on the Facility Sketch were inspected. If children become ill during the day, they will rest in the isolation area located, director’s office. Medication is stored in the kitchen, in a lock box and in the Assistant Director’s office in a locked cabinet. Furniture and equipment were inspected for age appropriateness and good repair. Age appropriate sinks and toilets were inspected for availability, good repair, water temperature, toilet paper, paper towels, area safety and sanitation. Children bring their own water bottles from home, and there is a water jug to available for the children to re-fill their bottles. The facility also disposal cups for the children. First Aid supplies were inventoried. Sign in / sign out record meets regulation requirements. The facility provides breakfast, lunch, and AM and PM snack. Food prep areas appear clean and sanitary. Food is properly stored. Inside Activity Space measurements are as follows: Total indoor activity area: Pre-K Room #8: 44.00 x 23.00 = 1,012 divided by 35= 28 children (2s) Preschool Room #4 1: 31.00 x 28.00 = 868 divided by 35= 24 children Preschool Room #5: 35.00 x 28.5 = 997.5 divided by 35= 28 children Preschool Room #6: 28.01 x 25.6=717 divided by 35= 20 children Total= 3,594 sqft. divided by 35 = 102 children Total children toilets and sinks: toilets 8 x 15 = 120 children sinks 8 x 15 = 120 children Total outdoor activity area: 20,760 sqft. divided by 75 = 276 children Playground is completely enclosed. Outdoor activity area is supplied with age and size appropriate equipment. An adequate amount of cushioning material is in place under the equipment. Shade is provided by a canopy. Water is provided by water jug and disposal cups. Based on today's inspection, facility has enough space for the requested decrease capacity of 78 preschoolers. Center Director Rebecca Nehez required CPR/1 st Aid training expires on 01/22. Facility provides Incidental Medical services. In the areas evaluated, no deficiency was observed and cited today per CA Code of Regulations, Title 22, and Division 12. Facility meets all licensing requirements and file will be submitted for approval. Exit interview was conducted. A copy of this report and appeal rights were discussed and provided to the director. The Notice of Site Visit was posted. The director was informed that the Notice of Site Visit must be posted for 30 consecutive days. Failure to post will result in civil penalties of $100.
