What the inspector wrote

On 03/12/2025 at 11:00am, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs), C. Nguyen and S. Deschampe conducted an unannounced Case Management inspection for a decrease in capacity from 90 preschool age children to 84 preschool age children by removing room 2 from the existing license. Upon arrival, LPAs met with Director, Veronica Gonzalez. Licensee is requesting to be licensed for 84 preschool age children (ages 2 to 6 years old) in classrooms #1 (Preschool), #9 (Discovery Preschool), #10 (Pre-K A) and #11 (Pre-K B). Hours of operation will be Monday thru Friday 6:30am \342\200\223 6:30pm and 6:30am to 10:00pm, one Friday per month. Present during today\342\200\231s inspection were 59 preschool children with seven (7) staff members. Appropriate ratios and supervision were observed. All indoor and outdoor activity space utilized for the children was inspected today. LPAs informed Director, Veronica Gonzalez that staff are required to maintain direct visual supervision of the children at all times during indoor and outdoor activities. LPAs inspected rooms #1, #9, #10 and #11, based on today\342\200\231s measurements and report dated 10/12/2023, total indoor activity space measured 3345.40 square feet, which is sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity of 84 children. LPAs observed all indoor activity space to be complete with safe, age-appropriate furniture and equipment, including tables, chairs, cubbies, napping cots/mats, bookshelves, and other activity supplies for the children. Drinking water is available in the classrooms via filtered water pitchers. LPAs observed all hazardous items to be inaccessible to children. There are no bodies of water or weapons on the property. Fire clearance was granted on 08/27/2024. Based on report dated 10/12/2023, & today\342\200\231s visit there are a total of eight (8) sinks and six (6) toilets available for children\342\200\231s use. These are sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity of 84 children. Outdoor space is completely enclosed. The outdoor activity area is supplied with age and size appropriate equipment with adequate of cushioning materials made of turf under climbing structure and slide. The facility has three (3) designated outdoor playgrounds for the preschool. Page 1 of 3 The preschool outdoor space total measurements are 11782.20 square feet. These are sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity of 84 children. Director, Veronica Gonzalez was reminded that any changes to the facility must be reported to and approved by Community Care Licensing. For child care center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1- CCP). Director Veronica Gonzalez was reminded that all adults 18 and over responsible for administration or direct supervision of staff, persons who provides care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5-days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30-days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPAs reviewed with Director Veronica Gonzalez the LIC 311A, Records to Be Maintained at The Facility, for child\342\200\231s records, personnel records, administrative records, and documents to be posted. LPAs discussed the safe sleep regulations with Director Nancy Echeverria and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at: https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep , as an additional resource. LPAs also informed Director of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at: https://www.cpsc.gov/ , and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Page 2 of 3 Director Veronica Gonzalez was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org site, a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD) regularly sends information to licensed facilities, providers, and stakeholders by way of Provider Information Notices (PIN), Program Quarterly Update Newsletters and other important information communication platforms. The request for a capacity decrease will be submitted for final review. The facility will be notified if any additional information is required.
