An annual inspection was conducted at the facility by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Giselle Lucero. LPA observed licensee and 2 assistants caring for 4 children which included 1 preschool age child and 3 school age children playing in a child care room. At 10:40 AM an additional preschool child arrived. Licensee was operating within the licensed capacity as specified on license.
A review of the Facility Personnel Report Summary on this date indicates all facility residents, staff, or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions. Currently there are 3 adults including the licensee and 1 minor living in the facility. Facility Day care hours are 7:30 am-6pm, Monday through Friday.
During today\342\200\231s inspection, the Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) and the licensee conducted a tour of both the interior and exterior areas identified on the facility sketch as accessible to children in care.
The facility is a two-story residence. A secured gate was observed at the base of the staircase, preventing access to the second floor. The child care space is limited to the first floor and includes the dining area, two bedrooms, and one bathroom.
The home is equipped with operational carbon monoxide detectors, smoke detectors, and fire extinguishers that meet statutory and State Fire Marshal requirements. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, and other potentially hazardous items were stored in a manner that rendered them inaccessible to children. No poisons or other dangerous items were observed; any such items, if present, were secured and inaccessible.

The licensee stated that there are no firearms or other dangerous weapons on the premises, and none were observed during the inspection. The living room and child care room each contain a fireplace; both are screened with protective covers and are inaccessible to children in care. The home contains age-appropriate toys and equipment for the children served. The LPA verified that there is a working telephone (cellular service) on site.
A water fountain is located in the front yard, which is designated as an off-limits area. The fountain was observed to be empty and not in use. The licensee stated that the backyard is utilized for outdoor play. No bodies of water were observed in the backyard.
The licensee does have a current roster of children in care. A sample of 4 Children\342\200\231s records for children present during LPA\342\200\231s inspection were reviewed for a copy of the emergency information card that contains all the information specified by regulation (LIC 700), Immunization records, Affidavit Regarding Liability Insurance (LIC282), Consent for Emergency Medical Treatment (LIC627), Notification of Parent\342\200\231s Rights (LIC995A) and found to be in compliance. Licensee stated, there is 1 infant under 24 months enrolled in the childcare. LPA reviewed LIC 9227 Individual Infant Sleeping Plan and sleep logs.
The licensee\342\200\231s Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification expires
03/02/2027. Beginning September 1, 2016, Health and Safety (H&S) 1597.622 states, a person shall not be employed or volunteer at a family childcare home if he or she has not been immunized against influenza, pertussis, and measles.
