Page 1 of 2 A case management inspection was conducted at the facility by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Mahnaz (Nancy) Malek. The purpose of this inspection is that the licensee has converted the garage to day care area. Licensee is planning to move the current day care area to the recent converted room. (This new day care room used to be the garage). LPA met with licensee, Maryam Maroof who was taking care of 4 children of whom all were under 2 years old. Licensee was operating within the licensed capacity as specified on Large Family Childcare License. A review of the Facility Personnel Report Summary on this date indicates all facility residents, staff, or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions. Currently there are four adults including the licensee and one minor child living in the facility. Facility Day care hours of operation is Monday through Friday from 7:45 am-6:00 pm. Four children's files and the licensee documents were reviewed today. They were in compliance. During today\342\200\231s inspection, LPA and licensee toured the inside and outside areas identified in the facility sketch as accessible to childcare children. The current childcare area consists of one large room, children's bathroom, and backyard. Kitchen and hallway are separated by a baby gate from the children's area. Main childcare room is accessed upon entering the home passing through hallway. Today, the new converted area for day care was inspected. An updated LIC 999 has been received in our office including the City Building Department for approved use of the garage. A new fire clearance approval has been granted for converted garage to day care through fire department on 9/24/2024. The parents enter the front gate, the new day care area is on the right side of the building. The new day care area is consisted of one room. Two cribs will be placed in the new daycare area. Mats are for older children for napping. There is a fenced barricaded area to separate two sides of the room. Children eat, play, and nap in this room. There is a tall heavy wooden cabinet in the bathroom which is equipped with lock. Continued on page 2 Page 2 of 2 This room is equipped with one children's bathroom. There is a tall enclosed cabinet with washer and dryer in it which is locked with a plastic lock and a metal latch. This area shall be locked during day care hours. The new day care area is separated from the other part of the house with a door between children's bathroom and off limit area in the house. Children will use the back yard as outdoor space. Licensee was reminded that children shall be escorted, supervised when passing through the off limits area of the house to access backyard. The outdoor area is fenced. There are no bodies of water on the premises. There is a small play structure with 2 slides, 3 swings, and low height 5 seats Seesaw swivel teeter totter equipment which are cushioned with Turf underneath. There is a gate on the side yard which is locked. There are working carbon monoxide, smoke detector, and fire extinguishers in the home that meet statutory and State Fire Marshall standards. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medicines, and other items which could pose a danger to children were not readily available to children they were stored inaccessible to children, none were observed during inspection. Licensee stated there is no firearm in the facility. There is no pets at the house. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with Licensee, Maryam Maroof and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at: https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep , as an additional resource. Every 15 minutes check on napping children. and LIC 9227 Infant Sleeping Plan regarding children under 12 months old was discussed. In the areas that were evaluated, no deficiency was observed of the California Code of Regulations, Title 22, Division 12 at the time of the visit. A notice of site visit was given to licensee, Maryam Maroof and must remain posted on, or immediately adjacent to, the interior side of the main door for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the licensee, Maryam Maroof. The licensee was advised that the room for new day care area is ready to use after following corrections received. 1- Pictures after transferring all the current furnishing to the new day care area. 2- Securing the tall white wooden cabinet which is located at the entrance of the room .
