What the inspector wrote

On 6/27/2025, Licensing Program Analyst LPA Meza conducted an unannounced case management inspection for the purpose of increase in capacity from Small Family Childcare Home to Large Family Childcare Home. LPA met with the Licensee, Annie Bhatt who toured the inside and outside areas of the facility. There were five(5) children total, which were two (2) infants, and three (3) preschool age children present at the time of inspection. Off limits areas are made inaccessible by means of safety gates. The childcare area consists of the living room, Kitchen, and bathroom. There was a carbon monoxide, smoke detector, and fire extinguisher that met statutory requirements. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medicines, and other items which could pose a danger if readily available to children were stored inaccessible to children. Licensee stated there are no firearms and/or other dangerous weapons in the facility, and none were observed during today's inspections. During today\342\200\231s inspection LPA verified there is a working (cellular) phone service. Licensee was instructed that children must be supervised at all times. Children\342\200\231s records for five out of five children during LPA\342\200\231s inspection were reviewed. The licensee\342\200\231s Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification is current and expires 5/18/2027. Licensee\342\200\231s file was reviewed, Mandated Reporter Training certificate expires 3/18/27. The most recent Emergency disaster drill was conducted on 6/22/2025 and is conducted every six months. (continue to page two) (page two) Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02-CCP. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. A review of the Facility Personnel Report Summary on this date indicates all facility residents, staff, or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Childcare Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Capacity Handout for a Large Family Child Care Home. LPA explained the age requirements for the enrolled children ensuring that when there are 14 children, At least one child is enrolled in and attending kindergarten or elementary school and a second child is at least six years of age. No more than three infants are cared for during any time when more than 12 children are being cared for. The licensee notifies a parent that the facility is caring for two additional school age children and that there may be up to 13 or 14 children in the home at one time. If no assistant provider is present at a Large Family Child Care Home, then the licensee shall comply with the capacity requirements for a Small Family Child Care Home. The total licensed capacity for a Large Family Child Care Home shall not exceed fourteen children. (continue to page three) (Page three) Fire clearance was received on 3/31/2025. A license with the change in capacity for 14 children (Large Family Childcare home) has been granted and will be issued via mail. Licensee will operate as a small FCCH until new license has been posted. In the areas that were evaluated, no deficiencies were observed of the California Code of Regulations, Title 22, Division 12 during today\342\200\231s inspection. Notice of site visit was provided and must be posted for 30 days. Exit interview was conducted.
