What the inspector wrote

**This is an amended report to correct the capacity from 32 to 29 based on the indoor measurement." On 12/8/2023, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Mila Quinto conducted an unannounced Case Management inspection for an increase in capacity. Upon arrival, LPA met with Director, Melinda Marchese and Administrator Ashley Neitzke. Applicant is requesting to be licensed from 16 to 32 infant children, ages 6 weeks through 24 months old in infant room 1 and infant room 2. The hours of operation are 7:30am to 5:30pm, Monday through Friday. Present during today’s inspection were 11 infant children and 5 staff members. Appropriate ratios and supervision were observed. All indoor and outdoor activity space utilized for the children was inspected today. LPA reminded the director that staff are required to maintain direct visual supervision of the children at all times during indoor and outdoor activities. LPA continued to tour the facility and measured the indoor and outdoor activity space. Total indoor activity space measured at 1025.06 square feet and can accommodate the capacity of 29 infant children. LPA observed all indoor activity space to be complete with safe, age-appropriate furniture and equipment, including tables, chairs, cubbies, changing table with 1 inch padded surface and 3 inch raised sides, napping cots and cribs, bookshelves, and other activity supplies for the children. Drinking water is available in the classrooms via water jugs and infants water bottle with their names on it. The infant room 1 has sufficient cribs to accommodate 9 infant children. LPA observed all hazardous items to be inaccessible to children. There are no bodies of water or weapons on the property. Fire clearance was granted on 11/8/2023. LPA observed a total of 3 sinks and 3 toilets available for children’s use. Page 1 of 2 Page 2 of 2 The facility currently has a fully fenced playground area. The wrought iron fencing is at least four feet high. The total square footage for all the outdoor activity space is 3733.37 square feet, which is sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity. Shade is provided via sun shade and a large tree. There are sufficient outdoor age-appropriate toys and play equipment available on the playground. There is a climbing structure on the playground and is age appropriate. There is adequate cushioning in fall zones of climber provided by an artificial grass. Drinking water is available via water jug and bottled water with child’s name on it. LPA observed all hazardous items on the playground to be inaccessible to children. The director, Melinda Marchese was reminded that any changes to the facility must be reported to and approved by Community Care Licensing. For childcare center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1- CCP). No corrections are needed. A license for 29 infant children will be granted upon a final file review. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with director and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at: https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep , as an additional resource. LPA also informed the director of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at: https://www.cpsc.gov/ , and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. The director was informed that the “Notice of Site Visit” must be posted for 30 consecutive days. The “Notice of Site Visit” must be posted on or adjacent to the door. Failure to post will result in Civil Penalties of $100.00. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the Ashely Neitzke and Melinda Marchese.
