Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

LPA interviewed 5 staff members. 5 out of 5 staff members stated they have not witnessed S1 not treating daycare child with dignity and respect. Staff 1 (S1) stated, when children have challenging behaviors, staff talk to the child, and see what's wrong and try to help them calm down by reading a book or drinking some water. S2 stated, If a child is throwing a toy, staff will remove the toy from the child or replace the toy to something safer like a soft toy or soft book. Staff try to re-direct the child to another area or safer choice. If a child is kicking a staff or a child, staff try to move the child or move their feet and help them calm down. Staff distract them from the situation for example sing a song like baby shark or read a book. S3 stated, staff will make sure the child is not injuring or hurting another child, staff will take toy from the child if he/she is throwing toys, staff re-direct the child with a song or book or another toy. Staff make sure the child is safe and not injuring themselves or others. Staff will write an injury or observation report for the parent so they are aware of the child's behavior, and the director or management will review it, sign off on it, and the staff gives a copy to the parent, and we keep a copy after the parent reads and signs form. S2, S3, S4 stated S1 is very positive and S1 actually is a role model master teacher. S1 teaches the staff on how to interact and use strategies to help children with challenging behaviors. LPA Duron interviewed 4 parents. All interviewed parents stated they did not have any concerns with facility. Based on the information gathered from LPAs’ interviews, observation, and the reviewing of records, there is insufficient evidence to corroborate the allegations: Staff are not treating daycare child with dignity and respect. Although the allegation s may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove the allegation did or did not occur in the day care facility, therefore the allegation is UNSUBSTANTIATED. An exit interview was completed. The report was reviewed and discussed. Appeal Rights were provided. The facility representative was provided a copy of their appeal rights and their signature on this form acknowledges receipt of these rights. All appeals must be in writing and received by the Licensing office within 15 business days. Any proposed changes to the physical plant, including telephone number, shall be immediately reported to the Department. The facility representative was informed that the “Notice of Site Visit” must be posted for30 consecutive days. Failure to post will result in Civil Penalties of $100.00.
