continued from page 1 LPA requested unusual incident reports for the last three months and no incident reports were found related, to a lack of supervision or inappropriate interactions between children. On 02/12/2021 LPA Nelson observed the four-year-old pre-school classroom whereby the LPA observed the children interacting During the investigation interviews were conducted with the center director. The director stated that the teachers monitor and ensure that the interactions between children are appropriate. The director also stated that if a child requires additional support, the teachers will alert the director for assistance. The director stated if the teachers need support in the classroom, the director will support the teacher directly inside of the classroom. The director stated that the teachers ensure that supervision is occurring both inside and outside on the playground for all the children in care. LPA interviewed four teachers, statements by all four teachers, all stated that they provide care and supervision. A teacher stated that it can be challenging to support a hyperactive child, due to lack support by the director. A teacher stated that they were aware that the child in question could be a challenge in the classroom. The teachers collectively stated that the monitor the interactions among the children by observing their behaviors ensuring that the children are engaging in a manner that is appropriate and modeling mutual respect and manners towards one another. Interviews were conducted with the children. The child in question was not able to focus on the questions during the interview, due to moving about the room. Interviews were conducted with four other children who stated that they tell the teacher if someone is not being unkind towards them. In addition, the children stated that they see their teacher in the classroom and on the playground supervising them throughout their daily activities. continued on page 3 continued from page 2 Interviews were conducted with five parents regarding the complaint allegations. Four of the parents did not express any concerns with supervision. Currently due to the Covid 19 restrictions none of the parents could directly observe interactions due to social distancing. Based on interviews conducted and conflicting information provided that inappropriate interactions between children in care and the facility not ensuring children are properly supervised. Although the allegations may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove the alleged violations did or did not occur, therefore the allegation is unsubstantiated. Exit interview was conducted with director Sandya Weeratunga via Tele-Inspection. Report was read to director. A copy of the report along with Appeal Rights will be emailed to Licensee with a Read Receipt to acknowledge report was received.
