What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Desai, Ketki conducted an unannounced Case Management Licensee initiated inspection at the above facility for the purpose of increasing the Preschool capacity from 80 to 91 preschool age children in the assigned four preschool rooms. Facility Head of school Ms. Madrigal, Samantha gave a tour of the facility. LPA observed 37 preschool age children with eight staff members in the four assigned classrooms and Administrator Ms. Bernhardt, Kristi was also present on site, providing care and supervision to the children. Census: Eagles: 15 children with 2 teachers/ Pioneers: 12 children with 2 teachers/ Rockets 4 children with one teacher and Explorers 5 chidlren with 3 teachers. Currently facility is licensed for 80 Pre-school age children, 2-7 years old in one assigned Four Preschool rooms on the premises along with Infant License (32) on the same premises. Now facility is requesting to increase with Preschool age capacity from 80 to 91 children to the preschool program. All staff have obtained the required clearances. The following was observed in the following in the preschool rooms ( Eagles/ Pioneers/ Rockets and Explorers) \302\267 Age appropriate furniture and equipment\342\200\231s \302\267 Educational items /Arts and Crafts activities. Room is well lighted with ventilation. \302\267 Drinking water is available through filtered water pitchers and personal water bottles \302\267 Facility offers snacks but all food items are brought from home Children use blue cots for napping. linens and blankets are brought from home. Linens are washed on premises and blankets are taken home on a weekly basis for wash. Isolation area is the Director's office, additional linens and blankets with cot is available in the Director's office. Adult restroom is used by the children during this time only. . (1) Preschool age children have individual cubbies for storage \302\267 Electronic and Manual sign in / out Facility uses Sandbox application \302\267 CDC Guidelines are being followed. \302\267 Classrooms has specific age appropriate bathrooms designated for Preschool age children in the assigned classrooms. Changing stations with sink within arm's length is available in younger 2 preschool rooms (Rockets and Explorers) Facility was measured last in 2021 and same measurements were used today for the increase in capacity. Indoor activity space: 3,173'5 divided by 35 = 91 children Total children toilets and sinks: Toilets 14 x 5 = 210 children / Sinks 20 x 5= 100 children Facility has sufficient indoor activity space with Toilets and Sinks to accommodate the requested increase in capacity to 91 Preschool age children (2-7 years old i four assigned rooms . Outdoor space : Facility has a designated Preschool age yards, which is accessed directly from the classroom doors. Playground is completely enclosed by a fence. Outdoor activity area is supplied with age and size appropriate equipment including a climbing apparatus, a slide, and basketball area. An adequate amount of cushioning material (rubber foam) is in place under the equipment. Shade is provided by mature trees, canopies, and large umbrellas. Outdoor activity space: 12,951 sqft. divided by 75 = 173 children. Facility has sufficient outdoor space. After a tour of the center, no deficiency was observed. Facility has conducted the Fire / Earthquake drills in the month of September 2022 and log is maintained. (2) Director Kristi Bernhardt required CPR/ First Aid training is valid up to 2/27/2024 Facility provides Incidental Medical services. Stored in the Medication cabinet in the lobby mounted on the wall and Medication logs are maintained. In the areas evaluated, no deficiency was observed and cited today per CA Code of Regulations, Title 22, and Division 12. Facility meets all licensing requirements and file will be submitted for approval. A new License for 91 Preschool age children (2-7 years) in Room : Eagles/ Pioneers/ Rockets and Explorers shall be issued upon Management approval. Total capacity : 123 children (91 preschool age and 32 Infants) Monday to Friday 6:30 am to 6:00 pm. Exit interview was conducted. A copy of this report and appeal rights were discussed and provided to the director. The Notice of Site Visit was posted. The director was informed that the Notice of Site Visit must be posted for 30 consecutive days. Failure to post will result in civil penalties of $100.
