Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

On 7/17/2025, LPA made an unannounced visit to the facility and interviewed seven (7) staff. All staff interviewed stated that they follow the school\342\200\231s Sick Policy when it comes to children showing signs of illness. Staff stated that they communicate with administrative staff when children are showing symptoms, then the administrative staff contact authorized representatives to notify them of children\342\200\231s illness. Staff stated that it is the discretion of the administrative staff whether children should be sent home, but in general, children are sent home for fevers and other communicable diseases. According to staff interviewed, when children are sent home for illnesses, they are sent home with a Wellness Plan that outlines the reason they are being sent home and on what date they can return to school. Facility director provided LPA with Sick Policy, copies of Wellness Plans, and other documents pertinent to the investigation. Children could not be qualified for interviews. Nine (9) parents were interviewed. 1 out of 9 parents interviewed expressed concern regarding their child being sick often but shared that they understood it was part of being newly enrolled in a facility and that the facility was doing well communicating their child\342\200\231s illnesses. Other parents interviewed did not provide any concern regarding the allegations. The Orange County Regional Child Care Licensing Office has investigated the complaint alleging staff are not taking precautions to mitigate the spread of illness: although the allegation may have happened or is valid, there was not a preponderance of evidence to prove the alleged violation did or did not occur, therefore the allegation is UNSUBSTANTIATED. No deficiencies cited. Report was reviewed with Director, Mary Zenk and Notice of Site Visit was given which must remain posted for 30 days.
