Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

Page 2 During the investigation, LPA interviewed five staff, interviewed four children, interviewed three parents, and obtained the facility roster. Staff yells at day care children . On 3/18/2025, the reporting party (RP) mentioned a staff berating and yelling at a student. On 3/18/2025, LPA contacted the RP to gather more information. RP stated they did not witness the staff berating and yelling at the student but was made aware of the allege incident via Yelp review. On 3/19/2025, LPA interviewed five staff. Staff interviewed stated they have never berated or yelled at a child at Guidepost Montessori. Staff interviewed mentioned when dealing with children with disruptive behavior, they get on the child’s level, communicate with the child to see what the problem is, and sometimes involve parents to create a plan. On 3/19/2025, LPA interviewed four children. Children interviewed all stated they like coming to school and did not know what a loud voice sounds like. On 3/19/2025, LPA contacted the parent of child #2 (C2) involved in the allege incident. LPA was unable to interview C2 by means of C2 parent request. On 3/28/2025, LPA contacted 10 parents via phone call. Out of 10 parents contacted, LPA was able to interview three parents. Parents interviewed did not divulge any information pertaining to the allegation. Based LPA interviews with five staff, four children, and three parents, there was not enough evidence to substantiate the allegation. The Orange County Childcare Office has investigated the complaint alleging (1) Staff yells at day care children: although the allegation may have happened or is valid, there is not enough preponderance of evidence to prove the alleged violation did or did not occur, therefore the allegation is UNSUBSTANTIATED. In the areas that were evaluated, no deficiencies were observed of the California Code of Regulations, Title 22, Division 12 at the time of the visit. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the facility representative Lorine Mayra Barnabedapic.
