What the inspector wrote

Page 1 of 2 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Mahnaz (Nancy) Malek conducted a case management inspection of the facility for the purpose of increasing capacity from 48 preschool children to 72 preschool children by adding room 42 to the license. LPA met with Site Supervisor, Pamela Glasell who toured the facility with LPA. There were no children present at the time of inspection. The staff were in transitioning between the morning and afternoon sessions. According to Site Supervisor there were 17 children present with 8 staff including Site Supervisor in two classrooms in the morning. Currently the facility is licensed for 48 children in rooms 39C (now 44), and 39B (now 43). The applicant has requested to provide care and supervision for 72 preschool children in rooms 42, 43, and 44 for ages 3 to 5 years old, Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in two sessions of morning and afternoon. A review of the Facility Personnel Report Summary on this date indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions. (The staff are employees of Cypress Unified School District) The State Preschool is a Title 5 Program that offers two morning and afternoon sessions. Morning hours are from 8:30 to 11:30 am and afternoon sessions are from 12:30 to 3:30 pm. The facility provides morning snack and afternoon lunch to children. Children do not nap in this program. Children are dropped off and are singed in and out at the entrance door. The facility has met all the posting requirements. The indoor activity space measurement for the current requested capacity is as follows: Room 42 is 861.12 square feet. Room 43 is 900.12 square feet Room 44 is 822.51 square feet Total indoor space is 2583.75 divided by 35 = 73.82 (74 children) Continued on page 2 Page 2 of 2 Total outdoor activity space measurement is as follows: Outdoor space in front of the classrooms : 8580 square feet divided 75 = 114.40 (114 children). The facility used to share the playground with other program but now they have their own playground. Playground is large enough and has appropriate toys and equipment with adequate cushioning under the climbing structure with enough shade. Each classroom has two sinks and two toilets. 6 toilets X 15= 90 children 6 sinks X 15 - 90 children The classrooms are equipped with carbon monoxide detector. Based on today\342\200\231s measurements, the sinks and toilets availability, the request of the facility for increasing the capacity to 72 children will be final reviewed and discussed with management in the Regional Office. The facility will be notified if any additional information is required. Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD) regularly sends information to licensed facilities, providers, and stakeholders by way of Provider Information Notices (PIN), Program Quarterly Update Newsletters and other important information communication platform. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted on, or immediately adjacent to, the interior side of the main door for 30 days.
