What the inspector wrote

An announced Case management inspection was conducted on this day by Licensing Program Analyst ( LPA) Ketki Desai. The facility is requesting to add a toddler option component to the existing preschool license with no change in capacity. The facility is currently licensed for 60 preschool children and seeking to add 12 toddlers option 18 to 36 months old to the preschool license. Preschool capacity is being decreased to 48 children (37 months to 6 years old). Operating hours for the facility is Monday to Friday 7.00 am to 6.00 PM. Toddler room is named as Glassell Station it has its own designated bathroom with one sink / one toilet /one potty chair and a changing station within arms length to the sink next to the classroom door in the hallway. A review of staff records on this date indicated that all facility staff or other individuals who required caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions. Glassell Station room, is assigned as a Toddler room, it was observed to have age appropriate toys and educational activities. Cots shall be used during napping time, linens are brought from home and they are washed on the premises on a weekly basis. Toddler room has its own entrance door from the hallway. Facility shall serve AM/PM snacks and lunch is brought from home. Snacks are stored in the kitchen area. Measurement for New Toddler room (Glassell Station) Room: Glassell station (Toddlers) : 31'33 X 20'58 = 644'77 divided by 35 = 18'42 ( 18 toddlers) Facility has requested 12 Toddlers. Facility has 4 additional Preschool classrooms. Overall facility has sufficient sinks and toilets to meet the needs of 60 children (48 Preschool age and 12 Toddlers) . (Page-1) Total sinks and toilets in the facility: Sinks: 5 X 15= 75 Toilets: 4 x 15 = 60 children.( there is one toilet/one sink/one potty chair and changing station designated for Toddlers only The outdoor yard: The facility has designated a Toddler yard, which was observed to be completely fenced, with grass and concrete flooring. There are several age appropriate climbing structures and additional outdoor toys. There is a walkway from the classroom leading to the toddler yard. There is a metal fencing in-between separating the preschool and Infant yard. Outdoor Measurements Toddler Yard; 52'83 X 38'50 = 2033.96 divided by 75 = 27'12 (27 Toddlers) Preschool Yard: 69 X 52'83= 3645'27 divided by 75 = 48'60 (48 Preschool age children) Fire clearance from Orange Fire Prevention Bureau has been received and approved for requested capacity. Based on today’s Indoor and Outdoor measurements, sink & toilet availability, center has sufficient activity space to support the requested capacity of 12 toddlers in the assigned Glassell Station (Toddler Room) along with the 48 Preschool age children (37 months to 6 years old) in the assigned 4 Preschool rooms : (Adventure Depot/ Conductor Corner/ Explorer Express and Chapman Junction) Exit interview conducted. Appeal rights presented to the Director. Notice of Site Visit was posted. Director was informed that the Notice of Site Visit must be posted for 30 consecutive days. Failure to post will result in civil penalties of $100.
