What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Mahnaz (Nancy) Malek conducted a case management inspection of the facility for the purpose of increasing capacity from 15 children to 20 children in rooms 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 from 8:00 am to 1:00pm. LPA met with staff in charge, Reyna Marques. LPA met with owner/director, Sang-Ah Rhee during inspection later on. The licensee has requested to provide care and supervision for children 2 to 5 years of age, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in preschool rooms and additional school age rooms #1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. The hours for school age children will be from 1:30 pm to 6:30pm Currently the facility is licensed for rooms 1 and 2 for preschool children. There are no preschool children enrolled yet. The director stated she has not re-opened the preschool program yet. . A review of the Facility Personnel Report Summary on this date indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions. Office area is located at the entrance of the building and will serve as the isolation area for ill children temporarily until parents arrive. The staff/adult restroom will be used as the isolation restroom for ill children and is conveniently located close to the isolation area. This facility provides Incidental Medical Services – IMS. For IMS information, see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. A Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. Incidental Medication will be stored in the office area, in a locked safety box and shall be administered by the staff. Continued on page 2 Page 2 The indoor activity space measurement is as follows: Room #1: 35.92 x 18.83= 676.37 sqft. divided by 35= 19 children Room # 2 18.00 x 13.03=234.54 sqft. divided by 35= 6 children Room #3: 11.08 x 14.03= 155 sqft. divided by 35= 4 children Room #4: 18.83 x 12.00= 226 sqft. divided by 35=6 children Room #5: 13.03 x 12.00= 156 sqft. divided by 35=4 children Total indoor space is 1447.91 divided by 35 = 41.39 children Total outdoor activity space measurement is as follows: Yard #1: 39.00 sqft x 30.00 sqft= 1170 sqft Total: 1170 sqft divided by 75 = 15 children Total children toilets and sinks: Toilet: 1 x 15 = 15 children Urinal: 1 x 5= 5 children Sink: 1 x 15 = 15 children Staff bathroom which is going to be used for isolation bathroom in case children become sick has a double sink inside of it. Kitchen has a sink for children's cooking projects. The facility has a waiver for shared playground area with preschool children on a rotating basis. The facility was in compliance with Title 22 requirements at the time of the inspection. Orange county Fire authority has approved the requested capacity of 20 preschool children. Based on today’s measurements, and the sink and toilet availability, the request of the facility and final review will be discussed with management. . The applicant will be notified if any additional information is required. Notice of Site Visit must be posted for 30 days or $100 civil penalties will be assessed. An exit interview was completed. The report was reviewed and discussed. Appeal Rights were discussed. The applicant was provided a copy of their appeal rights (LIC 9058 12/15) and their signature on this form acknowledges receipt of these rights. All appeals must be in writing and received by the Licensing office within 15 business days End of report
