What the inspector wrote

On July 14, 2022 at 3:00 PM, Licensing Program Analysts (LPA) Dean Thompson conducted an unannounced Annual/Random inspection. LPA conducted the Covid-19 screening questions prior to entering the facility. LPA met with Director Saeideh Gharavi and advised the purpose of the inspection. Director provided LPA a tour of the facility inside and out. There were 6 infants in care at the time of the inspection along with three (3) staff. The facility hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM. The Infant center has its own entrance door which is accessible from the parking lot and across from the preschool. LPA observed required licensing documents mounted on the wall inside the classroom. Sign in / Sign manual procedure was reviewed. Last fire drill was conducted on June 2022. LPA observed carbon monoxide detector to be working. There are two classrooms available for infants and a separate room used for napping. Each of the classrooms have age-appropriate toys and furniture readily accessible for children in care. LPA did not observe any hazards/toxins items accessible to children. First Aid kits were observed inside the facility. The outdoor playground is shaded and has an ample amount of space for children to play. LPA observed the playground has age-appropriate toys and structures available for children to use. Playground is completely enclosed by a fence. There are two separate playgrounds located in the outdoor space. The small one is for toddler use and the large one is for the use of preschool children. A waiver was granted on April 21, 2021 allowing for infants to utilize the toddler play area on a staggered schedule. Continued on LIC 809-C A sampling of children and staff records were reviewed. LPA observed children's files to be complete and current. LPA observed staff files to be complete and current. CPR current with an expiration date of 8/15/2022. LPA verified SB792 Child Care Adult Immunization and Tuberculosis requirements. Licensee was reminded a licensed child day care provider, administrator, or employee of a licensed child day care facility shall complete the mandated reporter certification AB1207 every two years at www.mandatedreporterca.com To improve the quality and value of the new inspection process, a survey will be sent to the email address provided. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010 to test their drinking water for lead contamination between January 1, 2020 and January 1, 2023, and then every 5 years after the date of the first test. Continued on LIC 809-C No deficiencies were cited during todays inspection. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100. Exit interview conducted, appeal rights were given, and report was reviewed with director Saeideh Gharavi
