What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Amanda Blesi arrived to the Scott Leaman Elementary school campus at approximately 11:15am and checked in with the front office. LPA met with staff Ashleigh Weatherly and Valerie Mercado who were supervising five T-K children on the playground. Staff notified director Sophia Ramirez of LPA's arrival for the 1-year required annual inspection. The facility is located in rooms D4 and D5 on the Scott Leaman Elementary school campus. Facility also has use of the multipurpose room. All criminal record clearances are associated to the Sunset Ranch facility #313600444. Facility hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:15am and 11:20am to 6:00pm. Program Coordinator Andrea Brand and director Sophia Ramirez were notified and arrived at 12:15 to assist with the inspection. LPA toured the classroom, restroom, and outdoor play area. Staff stated there are no children who require medications. Toxic and hazardous items are inaccessible to children. Furniture and equipment are in good condition. Playground equipment and surfaces are free of loose or sharp parts. LPA observed the climbing structures have safety labels, which designate use for children ages 5-12 years old. Pop ups are used for shade while outside. Facility shares the school restroom. The floors appeared clean throughout the facility. All food was protected against contamination. Children bring their own snacks and staff were advised if a child forgets their snack they shall have something to provide the child. Drinking water was readily available to children both indoors and outdoors. There are no firearms or bodies of water on the premises. LPA observed a functional carbon monoxide detector that is hardwired into the fire alarm system. Two staff and four children's records were reviewed. Each child's file contained an emergency card and a medical assessment. At least one staff member present today has current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification. LPA reviewed the Department's inspection authority and discussed any changes that may occur regarding the director or an employee acting in the director's absence must be reported to department within 10 working days. Report continued on 809-C. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. Testing will be required beginning January 1st, 2020 to January 1st, 2023 and must be conducted every five years from initial testing . There were no Title 22 Deficiencies cited during today's inspection. This facility evaluation report was reviewed and discussed with Andrea Brand and Sohpia Ramirez. A Notice of Site Visit was provided and should remain posted for a period of 30 days for parental review. Staff was encouraged to the visit the Department's website at WWW.CDSS.CA.GOV for information regarding child care updates, forms, regulations and legislation pertaining child care centers. An exit interview was conducted and in the areas that were evaluated.
