Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

At 12:45pm on 7/11/2024, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Matthew Gallo met with applicant Paolo Sarmiento for the purpose of a prelicensing inspection. Applicant requests an infant license to serve 12 infant children from birth to two years of age, with a toddler option to serve up to an additional 12 toddlers from ages 18-36 months. During an initial pre-licensing inspection on 5/29/2024, LPA observed that the following corrections were required before a license could be issued: 1. A four foot tall partition separating the infant crib area from the activity space 2. A four foot tall partition separating the toddler option from the infant space 3. A changing table in the toddler classroom 4. LLC in good standing with the Franchise Tax Board LPA used today's inspection to observe the corrections to the four issues listed above. Of these, have been resolved. Through record review, LPA observed the LLC to be in good standing with the Franchise Tax Board, and LPA observed a changing table in the toddler classroom which meets regulation. Two remaining needs must be addressed: 1. LPA observed that a four foot partition had been constructed between the infant sleep space and activity space. However, the material used did not meet the criteria of being sound absorbing, as is required by regulation. LPM Peters has approved the partition not having a gate due to the facility's need to accommodate wheeled emergency evacuation cribs required by the local Fire Marshall. Report continues on 809-C 2. LPA observed that a 32" fence had been installed to divide the infant space from the toddler option. This remains 16" short of the required four feet. In summary, the following two corrections are needed prior to licensure: 1. The four foot partition separating the infant sleep area from the activity area must be constructed of sound absorbing material. 2. The partition between the infant space and toddler option must be four feet tall. Applicant can send pictures of corrections to LPA Gallo to ensure compliance. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the licensee, Paolo Sarmiento.
