What the inspector wrote

At 10:00am on 9/12/2025, Regional Manager Natalie Dunaway, Licensing Program Manager (LPM) Mai Lor, and Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Matthew Gallo met with Director Paolo Sarmiento. LPM Lor defined the difference between a non-compliance conference and an informal meeting. LPM advised that the purpose of today’s meeting is to help the facility staff gain compliance with regulations. Today’s informal meeting is to discuss citations issued from 10/2/2024 to 8/8/2025 regarding the following deficiencies: -On 8/8/2025, the licensee was cited a Type B citation for not documenting 15 minute sleep checks on sleeping infants. -On 8/8/2025, the licensee was cited a Type B citation for not labeling food for children brought from home. -On 8/8/2025, the licensee was cited a Type A deficiency for the indoor infant and toddler spaces not being physically separate. -On 5/28/2025, the licensee was cited a Type A deficiency for an absence of supervision. An immediate $500 civil penalty was assessed. -On 2/12/2025, the licensee was cited a Type A deficiency for a child under the age of 18 months being present in the toddler component. Report continues on 809-C -On 1/17/2025, the licensee was cited a Type A deficiency for an aide providing care to children without being under the direction supervision of a qualified teacher. A $250 civil penalty was assessed for a repeat violation. -On 10/2/2024, the licensee was cited for a Type A deficiency for an aide providing care to children without being under the direct supervision of a qualified teacher. In total, the licensee has accrued $1,650 in civil penalties assessed in the period, and has a current unpaid balance of $363 in annual fees. LPA and LPM reviewed regulations regarding teacher qualifications, ratio, and supervision. LPM discussed using the Department website (ccld.ca.gov) for child care updates, forms, legislation, and regulation information. LPM suggested that licensee can view information videos at www.ccld.childcarevideos.org . LPM also provided information on Technical Support Program and the steps for enrolling in the program. This report was reviewed with Director Paolo Sarmiento during today’s visit. A copy of the report was provided to Director Paolo Sarmiento.
