Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

On the date and time listed, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Nasha King arrived at the facility to conduct a Case Management visit to follow-up on two Unusual Incident Reports (UIRs) submitted by the facility. The first UIR is dated 10/11/2022 and the second UIR is dated 10/18/2022. According to the UIRs, the facility has had two confirmed cases of Hand, Foot, and Mouth disease within their preschool program. At the time of visit, LPA toured the facility, took census, and met with the Director, Cathy Knudsen to discuss the reported incidents. On 10/11/2022, it was reported that C1 was diagnosed with Hand, Foot, and Mouth. C1\342\200\231s last day on campus was on 10/10/2022. C1 returned to the facility on 10/13/2022 with a medical clearance. On 10/17/2022, it was reported that C2 was diagnosed with Hand, Foot, and Mouth. C2\342\200\231s last day on campus was on 10/12/2022. C2 returned to the facility on 10/18/2022 with a medical clearance. Per the Director, parents were notified of the confirmed cases via an email notice and verbal communication. The Director also relayed that she contacted the health department to report the confirmed cases of Hand, Foot, and Mouth. The facility was cleaned and sanitized (all toys, carpet and bedding cleaned and sanitized) after each occurrence, and facility staff continues to clean and sanitize the facility throughout the day. Additionally, facility staff are conducting daily health checks on children to check for symptoms of the disease. The Director relayed that precautionary measures have been implemented at the childcare center in response to the disease. As of this date, there has been a total of 9 confirmed cases of Hand, Foot and Mouth (8 confirmed cases in the preschool program and 1 confirmed case in the infant program). LPA advised the Director to notify Community Care Licensing (CCL) as well as the public health department of any further confirmed cases of Hand, Foot, and Mouth. Based on the information gathered, there appears to be no violations of Title 22 Regulations found at this time, and therefore, there were no deficiencies cited during this inspection. An exit interview was conducted, and a copy of this report was provided to the Director, Cathy Knudsen. Appeal Rights were discussed and issued, along with LIC 811 (Confidential Names List), and a Notice of Site (NOS) Visit. Licensee understands that it (NOS) must remain posted for 30 days.
