Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

Interview with Director admitted that C1 is in the classroom with a pacifier, but no concerns of the pacifier being shared with other children were noted. Confidential interviews that the behaviors of C1 requires extra attention to avoid placing foreign objects in the mouth and/or allowing other children to get the pacifier when it is taken out. Four out of four confidential interviews disclosed that C1 is fed in a highchair by the family daily in the CCC. Four out of four confidential interviews disclosed the ratio is normally a 12 to one ratio daily in the classroom that C1 is placed, which makes it hard to keep a close eye on C1. Interview with Director denied any knowledge of allegations, stating these kinds of complaints come out against the CCC when a staff leaves. Interview with Director stated the goal of the classroom is to keep the ratio down to 18 children to two teaches to assist with the ability to care for C1. Based on confidential interviews, the preponderance of evidence has been met, therefore the above allegations Staff do not prevent day care child from eating foreign objects and staff do not prevent day care children from sharing the same pacifier on at least one or more occasions are found to be SUBSTANTIATED. California Code of Regulations, Title 22, section: 101229(A) Responsibility for providing care and supervision, and 101223(a)(2) Personal Rights. A copy of this report, LIC811 (Confidential Names List), appeal rights, were reviewed and handed to Director, Tara Martinez. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
