What the inspector wrote

On the above noted date and time, Licensing Program Analyst's (LPA's), Diana Brasel, Griselda Castellon, and Kelli Waters conducted an unannounced Case Management inspection for a decrease in capacity. Upon arrival, LPA met with Director Katrina Wanemacher Director. Licensee is requesting to be licensed for 144 preschool children ages 2 -5 years of age in rooms 4, 5, 6, 7, 9 and the multi-purpose room. Currently the facility is licensed for a capacity of 168 preschool children. Hours of operation will be Monday - Friday 6:30am - 6:30pm. Present during today’s inspection were (81) with (9) staff. Appropriate ratios and supervision were observed. All indoor and outdoor activity space utilized for the children was inspected today. LPA's informed Katrina Wanemacher that staff are required to maintain direct visual supervision of the children at all times during indoor and outdoor activities. LPA's continued to tour the facility and measured new additional indoor and outdoor activity space. Total indoor activity space measured 5142.56, which is sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity of (144) children. LPA's observed all indoor activity space to be complete with safe, age-appropriate furniture and equipment, including tables, chairs, cubbies, napping cots, bookshelves, and other activity supplies for the children. Drinking water is available in the classrooms via filtered water with the children's water bottles, disposable cups are available. The facility has sufficient toilets and cribs for infants. LPA observed all hazardous items to be inaccessible to children. There are no bodies of water or weapons on the property. The granted Fire Clearance shall be obtained. LPA observed a total of (11) sinks and (12) toilets available for children’s use. These are sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity of (144) children. The facility currently has a fully fenced playground area. Fencing chain link, wrought iron, and block wall, which is at least four feet high. The total square footage for all the outdoor activity space is 13790.7, which is sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity (144) children. The playground used on today's visit were taken on 9/29/06 during the pre-licensing visit. No changes have been made to the outdoor playground. Shade is provided via a large canopy and trees. There are sufficient outdoor age-appropriate toys and play equipment available on the playground. There is a climbing structure on the playground, which is age appropriate and properly anchored. There is adequate cushioning in fall zones of climber provided by rubber cushioning material. Drinking water is available via filtered water in children's water bottles. LPA observed all hazardous items on the playground to be inaccessible to children. Director Katrina Wanemacher Director was reminded that any changes to the facility must be reported to and approved by Community Care Licensing. The following corrections are needed prior to the issuance of the license: 1. The approved granted STD 850 from the Fire Marshall shall be obtained. (LPA will obtain) Upon completion of the above needed correction, the requested decrease will be processed for 144 preschool children ages 2 -5 years of age in rooms 4, 5, 6, 7, 9 and the multi-purpose room, will be granted upon a final file review. Currently the facility is licensed for a capacity of 168 preschool children. An exit interview was conducted with Director Katrina Wanemacher Director and a copy of this report was provided on this date. A notice of site visit was provided on this date.
