On 11/17/2022 at 2:20 PM Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Susan Brewer, arrived at the facility to conduct an annual inspection. LPA was greeted by Staff 1 (S1) and granted entry to tour the facility inside and out, review records. The LPA and observed and/or discussed the following: The licensee Mary Maxwell was temporarily away from the facility for school pick up. Normal days and hours of operation are: Monday thru Friday; 6:00 am to 6:00 pm OFF-LIMIT AREAS INCLUDE: Downstairs Bedroom, 2nd Floor and Garage The inspection consisted of reviews of the following domain: Physical Plant, Care and Supervision, Records, Facility Administration, Staffing Ratio and Capacity, Personal Rights. The inspection found the facility to be in compliance in these domains. The facility is operating within the licensed capacity and appropriate ratios. A census was taken by LPA at 2:25 PM, with 5 children present, at 2:35 PM 3 additional school age children arrived, another 3 at 3:40 PM. \302\267 The Licensee is present in the home and has ensured that children in care are supervised by a qualified staff. \302\267 When temporarily absent from the home, the Licensee shall arrange for a substitute adult to care for and supervise children. Present on 11/17/2022 was a hired. \302\267 A working telephone is present on 11/17/2022. \302\267 Appropriate fire extinguisher 06/02/2020, smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector are present and were tested by the Licensee Mary Maxwell, during this inspection. \302\267 All hazardous items are inaccessible, this includes detergents, cleaning compounds, medications and other items which could pose a danger to children \302\267 Storage of poisons is inaccessible to children and locked. \302\267 There is a properly barricaded fireplace on 11/17/2022. \302\267 No guns or weapons present as stated by the Licensee. Licensee understands all guns, weapons and ammunition must be key locked separately and made inaccessible per Title 22 regulations. \302\267 Stairs are barricaded at this time on 11/17/2022. \302\267 Home is clean and orderly, with heating and ventilation for safety and comfort \302\267 Safe and appropriate toys and equipment are present for both indoor and outdoor activities. \302\267 Outdoor play areas are fenced and/ or appropriate supervision is present. \302\267 Verification of control of property on file: Mortgage Statement \302\267 Pediatric CPR and First Aid Card expire on exp. 08/2023 \302\267 Health & Safety Certificate - completed on 12/07/2007 \302\267 Mandated reporter General: Exam not taken; Child Care Expired: 09/2022 \302\267 Fire clearance: 04/24/2013 \302\267 Documentation of fire & earthquake drills to be conducted every six months: Last drill on 10/11/2022, 9 children present lasted 11 minutes and exited to the front. \302\267 There are no bodies of water on 11/17/2022. Licensee understands all bodies of water including ponds, above ground pools & spas, in-ground pools & spas, and some fountains must be properly covered or fenced per Title 22 regulations. The Department must be notified before and after installation of the above types of bodies of water. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA Susan Brewer, discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee Mary Maxwell, and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.
