What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Jesse Gardner conducted an annual inspection as part of a compliance review for a Military visit. This is a combination childcare center and the other licensed programs are: infant program which were not inspected on this date. A tour of the inside and outside of the facility was granted and the following was observed and/or noted: \302\267 The following items were posted and updated where necessary: - License - Emergency Disaster Plan (LIC610) and Earthquake Preparedness Checklist (LIC9148) - Parent\342\200\231s Rights Poster (PUB393) - Personal Rights (LIC613A) - Child Car Seat Law - Menu \302\267 The facility is operating with the limits as stated on the license. \302\267 Ratios are being met during this inspection \302\267 Classrooms are adequately equipped with age and size appropriate furniture and equipment and free of hazards. \302\267 There are no weapons present at the facility as stated by Director \302\267 There are no accessible bodies of water present. All wading pools or similar product must be emptied immediately after use and stored in an upright position. \302\267 Drinking water is provided in the indoor and outdoor activity space by filtered water in jugs (Continued on an LIC809-C) \302\267 Hazardous items are stored where inaccessible to children which include: Disinfectants, cleaning solutions and other items that are dangerous \302\267 Poisons and toxins are locked and inaccessible to children \302\267 All floors were observed to be clean \302\267 Bathrooms were observed to be sanitary and in operating condition; however, LPA observed an abundance of water that was leaking from 1 of 2 toilets available to children in care. This water had pooled and was near the only other working toilet that was provided for children in care. This was identified as a potential hazard to children; thus a Type B citation was issued. Licensee sent a repair message to maintenance this morning shortly before the inspection. \302\267 Playgrounds are enclosed by appropriate fencing and free of hazards \302\267 Outdoor activity areas are supplied with age and size appropriate equipment \302\267 Playground structure steps are free from disrepair; however, LPA observed a few non-related play structure objects at the top of the play structure that could cause a hazard to children in care, thus a Type B citation was issued. \302\267 Food preparation area is clean, free of litter and rubbish and free of rodents and other vermin \302\267 Food is stored appropriately and protected from contamination \302\267 All storage containers for solid waste were observed to have tight-fitting covers that are kept on, and in good repair \302\267 Sign in/Sign out record was reviewed and meets regulation requirements \302\267 Disaster drills are conducted at least every six months \342\200\223 last drill conducted on 05/02/2024. A review of staff and children's records were conducted as part of this evaluation. \302\267 Children\342\200\231s records were found to be complete during this inspection. \302\267 A staff member is present with current Pediatric CPR/First Aid which expires on 01/2026 \302\267 Opening and closing staff member\342\200\231s CPR/First Aid expires on 10/13/2025 \302\267 Director completed Health and Safety Training \302\267 All staff present meet minimum qualifications for the position for which they were hired. (Continued on an LIC809-C) \302\267 A review of staff records on this date indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
