What the inspector wrote

On 05/20/2022 at 7:30 AM Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Susan Brewer arrived at the facility to conduct an annual inspection. LPA conducted a COVID-19 pre-screening and was granted entry by Licensee Catalina Espino. LPA toured the facility, inside and out, reviewed records, and observed and/or discussed the following: LPA took a census of 5 children in care on 05/20/2022. Normal days and hours of operation are - Friday, 6:30 AM to 5:30 PM OFF LIMIT AREAS: 1st Floor Garage, Kitchen, Entire Backyard and Entire 2nd Floor. The licensee opened the Dining and Formal living room as part of daycare on 05/20/2022, updated LIC999A Sketches needed. The inspection consisted of reviews of the following domain: Physical Plant, Care and Supervision, Records, Facility Administration, Staffing Ratio and Capacity, Personal Rights. The inspection found the facility to be in compliance in these domains. Deficiencies not cited this visit on 05/20/2022. \302\267 The facility is operating within the licensed capacity and appropriate ratios. \302\267 The Licensee is present in the home and has ensured that children in care are supervised. \302\267 When temporarily absent from the home, the Licensee shall arrange for a substitute adult to care for and supervise children. \302\267 A working telephone is present. \302\267 Appropriate fire extinguisher 06/05/2020 needle in the green, smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector are present and were tested by the Licensee Catalina Espino during this inspection on 05/20/2022. \302\267 All hazardous items are inaccessible, this includes detergents, cleaning compounds, medications and other items which could pose a danger to children \302\267 Storage of poisons is inaccessible to children and locked on 05/20/2020 \302\267 There is a properly barricaded fireplace. \302\267 No guns & weapons present are verified by LPA to be locked in combination safe . Licensee Catalina Espino, understands all guns, weapons & ammunition must be key locked separately and made inaccessible per Title 22 regulations. \302\267 Stairs are barricaded on 05/20/2020 \302\267 Home is clean and orderly, with heating and ventilation for safety and comfort. \302\267 Safe and appropriate toys and equipment are present for both indoor and outdoor activities. \302\267 Outdoor play areas are fenced and OFF LIMITS. The licensee stated that she walks the daycare children to the park for outdoor activities. \302\267 Verification of control of property verified by mortgage statement. \302\267 Pediatric CPR and First Aid training renewed 06/12/2021; Card expires on 06/12/2023. \302\267 Health & Safety Certificate on file and an online course that is incomplete. Licensee Catalina Espino, will check transcripts and check with vendor for approved certificate. \302\267 Mandated reporter: General: 04/02/2016; Child Care AB1207 Expires: 04/09/2023. \302\267 Documentation of fire & earthquake drills to be conducted every six months: Last Earthquake drill on 01/03/2022 at 8:50 AM and Fire Drill on 02/07/2022 at 10:30 AM. \302\267 There are no bodies of water on 05/20/2022. Licensee Catalina Espino understands all bodies of water including ponds, above ground pools & spas, in-ground pools & spas, and some fountains must be properly covered or fenced per Title 22 regulations. The Department must be notified before and after installation of the above types of bodies of water. In addition, all wading pools or similar product must be emptied immediately after use and stored in an upright position. \302\267 Children\342\200\231s files are complete on 05/20/2022 PLAN OF CORRECTION: Proof of Preventative Health, Safety, Nutrition & Lead Training on or before 06/01/2022. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. Licensee Catalina Espino, was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA Susan Brewer, discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee Catalina Espino and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.
