Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

The purpose of this inspection was to conduct a case management evaluation of the facility for decreasing capacity and room change. Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Andrea Taylor toured the facility inside and out. LPA met with Director, Pamela McIntyre. The facility received an increase in capacity from 17 school age children to 28 preschool children on 8/16/21. The fire clearance for both the preschool and new school age classrooms were approved on 8/6/21. A subsequent fire clearance (8/24/21) for the school age classrooms was denied. The new school age classrooms cannot be utilized with a denied fire clearance. LPA discussed with the plan the director has going forward. Director states Room#1 will immediately be used for the school age children as before 8/6/21. This requires the school age capacity to remain at 17 preschool children. The Director has withdrawn the applications for increases to the preschool and school age programs. Any changes in the future shall reported to the licensing office and approved by the fire department. A review of staff criminal clearance records on this date indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions. Room #1 accommodates 17 preschool children. There are 2 toilets and 2 sinks accommodating 30 children. The Notice of Site Visit was posted. Facility representative was informed that the Notice of Site Visit must be posted for 30 consecutive days. Failure to post will result in civil penalties of $100. The licensee was provided a copy of their appeal right (LIC 9058 12/15) and their signature on this form acknowledges receipt of these rights. All appeals must be in writing and received by the Licensing office within 15 business days. Exit interview was conducted. In the areas that were evaluated, the facility was in substantial compliance of the California Code of Regulations, Title 22, Division 12. An updated license for a capacity of 17 school age children in room 1 will be issued.
