What the inspector wrote

On 04/13/2022 at 11:25 AM Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Susan Brewer, arrived unannounced at the facility for the purpose of conducting a Case Management Inspection at the request of the Licensee. LPA was greeted by Licensee Wanda Burton. The licensee recently had an in-ground pool installed in the outdoor play area, which required an inspection. Present were two resident staff, 1 adult resident and 1 minor. A census was taken of 10 children in care. Normal days and hours of operation are Monday- Friday, 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM; OFF-LIMIT AREAS INCLUDE: 1st Floor Bedrooms x 2, Entire 2nd Floor and Garage. The inspection consisted of reviews of the following domain: Physical Plant, Care and Supervision, Records, Facility Administration, Staffing Ratio and Capacity, Personal Rights. The inspection found the facility to be in compliance in these domains. The facility is operating within the licensed capacity and appropriate ratios. The Licensee is present in the home and has ensured that children in care are supervised. When temporarily absent from the home, the Licensee shall arrange for a substitute adult to care for and supervise children. A working telephone is present. Staff records were reviewed and are complete on 04/13/2022. Stairs are barricaded on 04/13/2022. Appropriate fire extinguisher checked 11/03/2021, smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector are present and were tested by the Licensee during this inspection 04/13/2022. Documentation of fire & earthquake drills to be conducted every six months: Last Fire drill conducted on 02/16/2022 at 10:45 AM with 12 children present, lasted approximately minutes and evacuated to front of the home. Last earth quake drill on 03//202182, at 11:15 AM with 12 children present and went to front of the home. There are bodies of water on 04/22/2022. The Department was notified by Licensee Wanda Burton, before and after installation of the above types of bodies of water. The Licensee Wanda Burton, understands all bodies of water including ponds, above ground pools & spas, in-ground pools & spas, and some fountains must be properly covered or fenced per Title 22 regulations. In addition, all wading pools or similar product must be emptied immediately after use and stored in an upright position. LPA Susan Brewer, inspected the pool fencing to be made of mesh panels anchored by steel posts, which has one self-latching gate to enter the pool area, that is in compliance with Title 22 regulations. The licensee has also installed an alarm on the sliding glass door leading to the outdoor activity area. LPA observed a sliding latch/door stop, installed high to make inaccessible to daycare children. Facility records reviewed and updated: LIC279 Application form, LIC999A Yard Sketch. The licensee stated there are changes to the LIC610A emergency disaster plan which will be submitted by e-mail, fax or mail on or before 04/15/2022. Deficiencies not cited this visit. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the licensee Wanda Burton.
