Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

On 10/17/2025 at 7:40 am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Gabriela Hernandez arrived at the Family Child Care Home for a case management - plan of correction inspection for deficiencies issued during the annual inspection regarding the pool. LPA met with the Licensee Ana Lizarraga and explained the reason for today\342\200\231s visit. There is an in-ground pool and spa in the off-limit area of the backyard. LPA observed a 5 ft mesh fence that is in compliance with ASTM International Standard F2286. The mesh pool fence extends from the main dwelling to the fence line shared with the rear adjoining neighbor. LPA verified gate opens away from swimming pool, is self-closing and self-latching. LPA verified Licensee installed a pool alarm (BCONE Pool Alarm by Lifebuoy) that is ASTM F2208 certified. Licensee tested pool alarm while LPA was present and it was working during inspection. LPA verified there is a life ring with minimum exterior diameter of 17 inches, approved by the U.S. Coast Guard, a non-adjustable 12 ft rescue pole and body hook. Licensee provided documentation confirming they are completing daily inspection logs to ensure all safety measures are in place and in working order. There are 4 windows that lead into the pool area from the home, however all 4 windows are permanently shut and cannot be open; therefore there is no direct access to the pool from the home. LPA did not observe items or objects near fencing that would reduce the fence\342\200\231s height to less than 5 feet or make fence climbable by a child under six years old. LPA advised Licensee to be vigilant of any wear and tear on the fencing, gate, spring and latch. As of the date of this inspection, the fencing and safety measures in place meet Title 22 Regulations. The deficiencies issued on 10/03/2025 were cleared during this visit and a "Letter of Deficiency Citation Cleared" was provided to Licensee. An exit interview was conducted and copy of this report along with appeal rights were provided to Licensee Ana Lizarraga. A notice of site was provided and shall remain posted for 30 days.
